After a day of walking the French Quarter, we stopped at the Original French Market Restaurant for a late lunch. We were seated upstairs in a large airy room with balconies on two sides. The blackened catfish po'boy was delicious. My hubby enjoyed a dozen raw oysters. I also had a cup of crawfish bisque and wished I had ordered a bowl - it was that good. After eating, we walked out on the balcony and took a couple of photos of the area. The only thing that I can say negative about the restaurant is that they don't allow any substitutions on the menu.

This place serves a variety of seafood items and the menu is large enough to include other choices for those who don't want seafood. Fresh crawfish were being cooked in the window. You will leave smelling of seafood! The place was packed, bustling and vibrant. Tables are crammed in together. Everyone is happy, the servers are run off their feet. Nicole guided us through the menu and helped make good choices. She was funny and efficient. Two had salmon, one had Caesar salad with catfish, and an order of mac and cheese. The Caesar salads were enormous. Enough to share.

Stopped here on our way to the market and so glad we did. Came back the next day too as spicy bloodys are the best!! Sat outside and sipped our cocktails. They use 2 types of vodka and pickled green beans, good stuff!!!

We wanted to try bits of everything so the server made wonderful suggestions. Ate charbroiled oysters in garlic/butter sauce 9
Then had a bowl of red beans rice=10 and gumbo =8
Ordered sampler platter of fried oysters/shrimp/catfish and hush puppies.
We split everything and we're COMPLETELY full with food to spare.
Service was good and friendly. Definitely good Cajun food.

This was the first restaurant we stopped in to eat. The people are great. Our food was ready fast considering the place was packed and it was delicious. Definitely check out the alligator if you haven't had it before. We sat at the bar and our bartender was patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. We tried different places while there but had do come in a 2nd time before we left. Highly recommended it.
