We liked the hotel very much, but we got the feeling it was more of a "hiking, winter, skiing" hotel more than a holidays hotel. Mutters is a very cute town just a couple of KM outside of Innsbruck, but it's easily accesible by tram (it takes 20 mins from the hotel to the centre of Innsbruck), what makes the hotel a very nice place to stay.
The rooms are quite average and it's run by a family, and though very polite and respectful, they were quite "blah".

The hotel is difficult to find unless you know you have to exit at Innsbruck Sud (South). When we arrived Elisabeth came from the restaurant told us our room number and told us it would be ready in 5 minutes. She then went I don't need anyone to make a fuss of me but it would have been nice to be given some information on the area instead of a load of leaflets.

We tried to eat in the restaurant a few nights without much success, the only thing we were offered is pork and one night they had "run out" of potatoes and offered us dumplings and they were most put out that we didn't stay to eat.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and there was a lift which was a bonus as we were on the second floor and at 67 find it difficult to carry cases upstairs.

We went up in the cable car which is not far away in the car. We also walked to the train station which is just up the road and goes into the centre of Innsbruck.

This small family run hotel is nestled in a small alpine town, which has won most beautiful Tyrolean town twice. You will feel right at home in the comfortable den like rooms with mountain views. The beds were most comfortable. The facility is exquisitely clean and well kept. The atmosphere is chill, friendly, and laid back. The property is surrounded by breathtaking garden's and grounds. The hotel is pet friendly and is accessible by public transit. The amazing traditional Austrian cuisine food gets full marks as does the hotel staff. Thanks Elizabeth and Benjamin for making our stay most enjoyable. We will be back.

We travelled from Canada to Tirol June 2013 and stayed at the lovely Sporthotel Schieferle in beautiful Mutters, surrounded by scenic mountains. Owners and staff at the hotel were very welcoming and hospitable. Hotel rooms very nice, clean, and we had a super view of the mountains. Food was delicious and very well presented. Easy access by tram to Innsbruck and breathtaking views along the way. We enjoyed great sunny and really warm weather during our stay, just a few cooler rainy days. A festive parade and celebration was enjoyed by many on one of the weekends while in Mutters. Thank you, and we certainly recommend the Sporthotel Schieferle in Mutters, Tirol. Hilde, Heidi, Angela.
