We have travelled extensively for business and pleasure all over the world and stayed in some beautiful hotels but this one equals all of them because the staff and location play an enormous part in making it a wonderful stay.
We believe that the hotel was refurbished last year and the whole area from the reception, bar and dining are extremely spacious. We had a beautiful room and it overlooked the front of the hotel not the sea but that didn't worry us as it was so quiet to sit on the balcony overlooking the grounds and the avenue of pine trees that lined the road. The room was extremely spacious with all the mod cons, air conditioning, mini bar, safety deposit box, free wifi, a decent LG TV and tea and coffee making facilities which is nice. The hotel does have indoor and outdoor pools, a gym and spa/sauna facilities although we didn't use any of them as we like to get out and about to see the surrounding sights. The hotel is situated right next to the sea but most of the beaches are pebble although, a little walk towards the town centre, via the sea front footpath/road there is a sandy beach.
We went half board and the choice of food is excellent and no shortage of it. What is nice about this hotel is the fact that the entrance from the front to the the reception bar and dining area are all on the same level and the sea front is at a lower level at the rear of the hotel (about 2 floors down) so when dining, and sitting outside on the dining balcony, you have a spectacular view over the Medulin bay; beautiful in the evening.
The town centre/marina is a short walk from the front of the hotel, via the shaded road (avenue of pine rees) or via the more scenic, small road/path on the sea front. The sea front route takes you past some lovely rustic restaurants and bars and it is nice to stop off for a snack and a cool drink on the way back. We discovered a shop within Medulin that sells wine on tap! You can buy your bottle (plastic or glass 1 or 1.5 litre), choose your wine and then return for another fill up! Not expensive at all and nice to take back and sit on the balcony before tea. Just to add, wine and beer is not expensive at all in the hotel.
The staff at the hotel are wonderful people and always there to help, chat and smile; we never met one miserable member of staff. On this note, we would also like to say, that everyone we met, throughout this holiday were happy, helpful people and this really did make our holiday. Medulin is truly a wonderful base and if you do want to make your own way around, you can take local transport, as we did or taxi and either is not that expensive. We did some tours through Thomson and also did a couple via a local agency who were so helpful with everything (Globespan - Medulin).
As I said, Medulin and this hotel are a superb base for the surrounding area and we did many trips, saw many things but if you just want to chill out, then it is truly a wonderful hotel and location.
