Joe and his son TJ have a nice one room cabin that seems to give you that real Alaska feel. We stayed four nights with them and truely made new friends. They know the area and had many recommendations. Joe let us borrow his gold pans and directed us where to go to find some gold flour (and we did). There is a coffee pot with a bean grinder, micro wave, small fridge and toaster. He has a gas grill available for use too. The grocery store is about 3 miles away. You are a very short distance from the Lost Lake trail head. If you wat to have a great adventure toalk to Joe about a package deal of staying in the cabin a few nights and chartering his 40' boat. We had a fantastic trip with him to Northwestern Fjord - we only saw one other boat there all day. Kayaking, fishing, whale watching, photography we did it all. He comes with highest recommendations.

This was the second time I have stayed at this cabin ---which is only a few miles outside of town. I was in contact with Joe(the owner) all winter long--helping me plan, giving me tips, and even sharing some of his pictures with me,
The cabin is pretty large--there's a nice bed, mini fridge, TV and lots of books about the area. There's a friendly dog that just wants some lovin and a couple of cats as well. It's always nice to talk to Joe, he's really knowledgeable about the area, and also has some real great stories. We wished we had more time just to here them.

We made a trip to Alaska last summer to both visit family in Anchorage, and also see as much as we could of the amazing area. Going to Seward was on the list and our family of four stayed in the Allen's cabin.

We had a great time there, and very much regretted that it was only for one day of our fast-paced trip. (Even with the short stay, my son and I did manage to get far enough up the Exit Glacier trail to see the snow fields.) Joe and his son TJ are solid folks. The kind that you would very much enjoy returning to visit and shaking their hands again. (Which we sure hope to do. Need to get to the top of Exit next time!)

If your plans are to go to Alaska to experience all that it is, as opposed to other "vacation spots," Allens Alaska Adventures will leave an indelible page in your memory book.

Hey Joe and TJ, if you ever find yourselves in Cleveland Ohio... :-)

All the best, and thanks again for the wonderful hospitality,
The McVicker Family

This location is perfect for adventures in the nearby wildernss. Lost Lake Trail is nearby, the town is a quick 4 mile drive and the owner, Joe, is willing to share his vast knowledge about things to do and places to see. We would go again. It is neat and very clean with a real Alaskan homey-ness. We had our three young boys who plalyed for hours out front with the dog, Scamp and their helpful son, T.J. Best experience and priced right.
