A very good location, near the port and the city center but in a very quiet area. A very great heated outdoor pool with a terrace overlooking the bay of Douarnenez ! The breakfast room is beautiful. For the breakfast I particularly noted the quality and choice of french cheese. A very good service and welcome from the staff.

Vallombreuses is a quiet plce in the middle of the town. Large parking aerea, swimmingpool in the garden and a terrace that looks over the bay. Rooms at groundlevel are the best : hall, toilet, bathroom, bedroom, salon and terras to the garden. The personal is friendly.
Only breakfast was a disaster : hard bread, uneatable fruit, you have to order twice to get something out of the kitchen.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the garden. Don't accept a room in the old building !!!

Recommanded! Great setting in and around a stately house, comfortable room and very good and friendly service. Good restaurant too. We picked it from a booking site and felt very lucky indeed to have landed here.

Booked through Brittany Ferries for three nights. Our room had a nice deep bath and a hand held shower attachment which was fine for us but maybe not for others. We had twin beds which were tiny (like on a boat) and there was a strong smell in the room of probably the cleaners trying to clean up the carpet. The Internet access was awful and I had to hover around reception to get a reception but that made me think how dependant we are these days. On the last evening this was rectified.
On the positive very central, great parking, lovely view, a pool which looked fab but weather was not permitting , good food in the restaurant but mostly the staff to a one were courteous, helpful and made it for us.
This is a hotel that has character and is definitely not bland.

I got the distinct impression that this hotel was a little like Miss Haversham in Dickens' Great Expectations... the elegance was there, it was just a tad past it's sell-by date.

Our room was comfortable enough, but paintwork was scuffed and the window latch was broken, so that anything more than a slight breeze rattled the windows. The view over the bay was superb and this did make up for many of the hotel's other faults. Comfortable beds, a warm welcome (although more than a smattering of schoolboy French was needed!) and an adequate continental breakfast made this an OK place to stay... but it could be much, much more.

The restaurant is the star of the establishment, with a Michelin-starred chef in residence - sadly, we arrived to late to enjoy the food, which (I am sure) was excellent!

If passing, I may visit again... but I wouldn't go out of my way to return!
