Very memorable area. Very heartfelt and important. I have learned and appreciated more about war history since moving here 2 years ago. I am thankful to those that serve our country.

Thank Rachel D

My husband and I are history fans and try and visit historic places when we travel. We wanted to pay our respects to those who fought in all wars from the US especially the Civil War since we're in the land of Lincoln. It's a beautiful place to visit and think about all the soldiers buried here. Everyone should visit and see how many men fought for this country maybe they would understand sacrifice and not be so selfish. Learn about the tombs and why they are over or pointed at the top and see all levels of soldiers and soldiers of various branches of the military.

This is a national cemetery where veterans are interred. There can be several funerals a day on the hour. If the schedule is right and the family has requested, there is an honor guard who fold and present the flag and give a 21 gun salute. Up by the main building by the front gate, there is a list of people interred in the cemetery along with their section for ease of finding. It's a beautiful setting and well maintained.
