Just back from a fantastic 10 day late Sep holiday. Hotel Flamingo will now close Oct to next Apr. Booked through Thomas Cook / Citalia who were very helpful and professional in particular with room choice, airline extra leg room seats and car hire. Hotel reflects its star rating based on facilities it provides. Breakfast suited the European pallet and set you up for the day. Evening meals service was swift with a great choice of 4 starters, Salad buffet bar, 4 main and a desert. Half Board ensured we got out every day to explore the region which took in some amazing isolated beaches.
Pula and the region can be described as rural and beautiful with amazing hidden treasures. Hire a B Group car as you land (hassle free and within the airport complex) as local buses are few and far between. Take you own SAT NAV with you (loaded with Italian Maps) but also purchase a decent regional map (Try Stanfords) which includes all the tracks down to the beaches. Our next visit will see us hiring a small 4x4 as our Fiat Panda (great car) took a pounding!
For beaches away from the hotel take your own large towels, foldable cool bag and thin ice blocks (refreshed nightly within the hotel) and pick up a cheap beach umbrella for the duration.
The following will enhance your trip:
Pula
ATM. Intesa San Paolo SPA Bank, Via Alfonso Lamarmora 63.
Fradis Olla Bakery Via Piave 8 (Local wholesale bakery no signage just watch for people going in and out!)
Pastificio Pula, Via Nora 147 (Fresh pasta shop)
Su Nuraghe Restaurant and Café, Piazza del Popolo (good parking behind €0.50 per hour)
Parafarmacia (Chemist etc) Via Monte Santo 2 (just off the Piazza) very helpful.
Supermercanto Jolly, Via Antonio Segni 18 (next to River) Free parking on side. Don’t be put off by its exterior as this is a gem. Fully stocked with a fantastic range of local and international products including wines, spirits, fish counter, cheese and deli counter and a fresh meat counter.
Sapore Di Sole. Halfway to Pula you will find a wholesale / direct Fruit, Veg, cheese, meat etc outlet on main road SS 195 @ Kilometre 31.800.
Going West
A few roadside fruit and veg stalls after joining SP 71 towards Chia from SS 195 and just before Km 2 (Good value, fresh and direct from the small holdings nearby)

Ciao Ciao Beach Restaurant / Snack Bar. Tuerredda Beach (CA) on route SP 71 Km 8.800. Better than the outlets on the beach.

Malfatano Beach with Restaurant and Café (Comune Di Teulada) on route SP71 KM 11.750 on a very sharp bend then down a rough track for 800m. Strangely parking was free. Popular restaurant with locals especially on a Sunday. Light lunch for 2 with ½ Lt Wine €20!

Room Tip: Through your Travel Agent firmly request 1st floor room with sea view in the blocks facing the beach and NOT the main hotel

this hotel is in a beautiful location, great pools, nice rooms, superb beach, good food, great bar staff who are very attentive. However, when we asked for help with a parking ticket we were fobbed off with no real reason why they could not assist us, unfortunately this was not the first time we had asked a question of them and not received a satisfactory reply. Also beware if you have a hire car as the little hotel run buggies do tend to scuttle around at a rate of knots

Room Tip: ask for a room facing down the beach and not over the pool

First time in Sardinia (and Italy) so had an open mind. Saw the island on Gino's Italian Escape so went for it. Booked through Citalia who were 100% and also said that is was isolated so we hired a car from the airport. The hotel itself was clean and functional but could do with updating. We opted for a sea view which it probably was until some trees grew in front of it, so a little disappointing although we could partially see it! The pool area leads directly to the beech which convenient and private for the hotel. Staff were very good and the evening meals were excellent. Breakfast and lunch were average with sufficient overall choice. I would say this is more of base for sight seeing and was glad we opted for a car. Apart from meals all services were chargeable so again it was good to able to get the local supermarket for extras! Take your own towels for the pool/beech and a travel kettle for your room. The surrounding coast line is protected similar to the National Trust and the beeches are stunning. Parking is 5 euro per day and regulated so no issues. As ever the beech sellers are a pain but be polite and firm. Overall the Flamingo Hotel suited our purpose and is in a wonderful part of the Island but would not go without a car.

Room Tip: There are limited sea view rooms so be specific when you book as some have only partial view. No view from lower floor.

Shocking Hotel 2-3star at best ... We booked on Secret Escapes as they are supposed to have handpicked luxury hotels, the hotels own website also shows it as high end but this is not in this case at all, the heel doesn't look to have been updated in along time, it's tired and would most probably have been OK in 70s. Breakfast consists of cheese, ham, yoghurt, cereal, pastry and undercooked scrambled egg, very limited offer. Lunch is mass produced slop, evening meal was better in terms of good quality but the dining room has zero atmosphere and stark lighting, butlins canteen. The staff (other than pool bar who were ok) are rude, argumentative and generally gave no interest in the guest. The best rooms I NIDI supposed to be 5star deluxe, they are certainly not - see photos. Only good posits were pool far staff and live entertainment - don't waste your money.

We stayed at the hotel 10th-17th September, which we booked with Ciitaltia (via Thompson). It was our Honeymoon (which we booked 18 months previously), costing us £1700. Our initial thoughts was that the whole place could do with a lick of paint, as there was chips of plaster missing from around the windows and it could have been cleaner.

The food was good though, although the staff weren't very attentive. Our room looked like it had come straight from the 80`s. Not very good to be honest.

The beach was lovely, although they do charge for sunbeds on the beach.

Not worth what we paid for it, and you need a hire car, as the place is far too isolated.
