This is a very peaceful hotel, right by the sea amongst the pine trees. The compound of separate buildings is a really pleasant and unusual arrangement, far more attractive than hotel corridors and giving a feeling of an apartment rather than a room.
Rooms could be improved, though. They are light, airy and cool - we had a lovely view right over the pool and sea - but the shower curtain was too long because the rail was too low, creating lots of spare material which got in the way and sometimes blocked the drain. Some frantic mopping up required. There should also be a couple more chairs in a family room, or a simple sofa, while a cupboard, some drawers or even a few hooks on door or wall would be appreciated so you don't have to live entirely out of your case.
The food in the restaurant is honest, rather than fine dining, but good quality with varied menus and always some Sardinian specialities. It was good to see the wine list was entirely Sardinian wines; the three we tried were very good indeed (though, oddly, they were more expensive on the final bill than they mad been on the menu, but with no prices on the receipts, it's hard to prove.)
Facilities at the Flamingo are within easy reach if required. As others have said, some tidying up of the not-very-attractive fence by the beach would much improve the aesthetic appeal.
But the staff were great, friendly and helpful throughout, especially Francesca in the restaurant.
If you just want to relax, it's great. There are also some walks into the pine woods to the west, out along the coast. You could get all the way to Nora if you had the time and energy. Otherwise, Sandra's Excursions, advertised at reception, are very good. We went on the full day tour to Sant Antioco, which was beautiful and fascinating. Sandra herself is larger than life, great fun and full of information. Refreshments and lunch were included at local restaurants, which was great.
