We were in the town of Tortoli to purchase a ceramica sarda from a charming shop, the owner of the shop told us about a popular oyster restaurant by the sea. So off we go! ( with my hired car) I was so happy when we found it. It was easy and the location is right next to the beach, it is an open air restaurant with Mediterranean feel ambience. There is a vast expanse of beach on the left side towards the sea of Orisei ( we previously visited that town as well) and gorgeous blue mountain to make a picture perfect back drop off the restaurant.
The atmosphere was invigorating, you can feel from the open kitchen staffs how proud they are of their produce and service they offer.
The oyster are the best in the area (probably most areas in Europe) as they farm them next to the restaurant to a body of water they call “Stagno de Tortoli” that empties its water into the Mediterranean Sea.
All the sea foods are fresh and the fish is fantastic. We ordered a local grilled fish and the taste and texture is something I would never forget.
Hope the sustainability of local produce it stays like that for very long time as it is a great source of employment for the local people as well.
