Me and my boyfriend went to Malta in September and stayed at the Dolmen Hotel , it was such a beautiful place to stay . The views of the sunset from the onsite restaurant are AMAZING and the food is delicious there. Rooms are lovely, modern and very clean. The bed was soooo cosy. Staff all very nice and helpful. Lots of choice with the pools , we liked the one with the pool bar , there was a very friendly happy guy called shaggy who worked there. Breakfast was decent an plenty of choice. Great location , lots of nearby shops , restaurants and bars. Couldn’t fault the place , would definitely go back! Thank you for a fab holiday :)

Room Tip: Ask for a modern room

The Dolmen is possibly one of the largest hotels in the Bigibba area. This brings both positives and a few negatives but for the most part this is a 4* hotel which exceeded my expectations of hotels in this category. The look of the hotel is appealing and the staff are responsive, friendly and keen to help but at times lean a little towards functionality, I suspect simply because of the volumes of guests on site. My partner and my room was simple but lovely and we had a sea view.

We went in late March/early April which brings with it a reminder that so much of 'the med' is a summer seasonal beast. Despite 18 to 19+ degrees, you will find that if you travel before May the outdoor facilities are not open. That said, it felt busy so I can't imagine quite what it is like full season. However the busyness was not unpleasant per se.

For those with budget considerations (sadly myself) this is a comfortable hotel with a few little treats and a lot of facilities. That said, my negatives will always err towards why one, at a 4* hotel still has to see chipped plaster and unfinished floors? A recent renovation of this hotel is largely successful but the residue of this leaves things still needing to be done and occasional corners cut. A small detail perhaps only a few will notice...

Breakfast is a voluminous affair with fantastic choice. However once again it was fantastically busy when we were there. That said quite manageable as the staff run the whole experience so efficiently yet a little alarming to see 150 odd other guest over morning coffee.

For those with social, dietary and eco concerns the choice is vast however the waste issue may put the more conscious off - at the end of each morning breakfast there were bowls and bowls of things remaining destined to be discarded I suspect.

Bugibba itself is the ubiquitous tourist trap. If this is your thing, then great. For me, not so much. However ventures to St Paul's bay and Mdina prove far more meandering, cultural affairs. The bus service for those needing it works affordably and well.

The rugged coast of Malta is full of charm and I enjoyed my time. The Dolmen made the experience easy and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Most are sea view rooms but ask for one on the upper floors.

A very nice hotel, we had a suite, it was huge. 2bedrooms 2 bathrooms, very clean. Staff very friendly. Restaurant big, but never queues for food. Drinks were free with dinner, self service, wine , beer, or soft drinks. Positioned right on the sea front.

Our group of 30+ people stayed at this hotel for 14 nights. The staff was most helpful...from front desk, to dining room, to management, to housekeeping. The lobby is bright, large, modern and a nice place for people to sit about. The bar area is spacious and nearby and provides live music during weeknights with usually two musicians. The meals were fine...of course after 14 dinners, some things became repetitive, but chefs do well to respond to a great variety of tourists from various ethnic backgrounds and food preferences. The rooms were bright, clean; wifi is good; limited English TV channels. Our guests enjoyed walking along the nearby Promenade overlooking St Paul's Bay. Traffic can be congested nearer Valletta so allow extra time when travelling there as no major highways, etc. Lots of amenities nearby (supermarket, pharmacy, gift and souvenir shops, some restaurants).

The buffet was very popular. Wide range of cultures represented and attractively presented. All foods platters were consistently refilled and wine actually on tap! Prompt and pleasant service from waiters. Rooms were comfortable with magnificent sea views.
One problem, several of our party have mobility/balance issues and the bathrooms are ill equipped to meet our needs. Thank you for the stool and shower mat but they are not enough to keep us safe. We need two grab bars in the shower. They are essential! Also I was unable to use your lovely indoor pool because your steps to enter have no supporting rail. I would suggest that you do a 'walk through' the hotel with an older person and have them tell you where they need support rails. We have had a great stay and thank you for your hospitality.
