We had stayed here ten years ago when the previous owners ran a very good place and having read the reviews we thought that we would stay again. Wendy and Bert have undertaken some lovely improvements to the gardens and we were fortunate to have the place to ourselves for our 3 night stay. They were excellent hosts and were so glad that we opted to have our dinners prepared by Bert. We can honestly say that the food was amazing using fresh local ingredients. Bert has great skill and is so adventurous and innovative - you will not be disappointed.

Worth seeking out for a comfortable and well appointed base in the stunningly beautiful hills between Alora and Antequera. Cortijo Valverde provides excellent hospitality and a warm welcome from its Dutch hosts. Wendy was extremely helpful when we had to rearrange our visit to El Camino del Rey. The pool is unusually large and beautifully situated. The gardens have many shady corners. If you want a gourmet evening meal the hosts can provide it but if you have a car there are good local choices within a short drive.

Stayed 2 nights with my parents at this excellent place which had great hosts.
The location is very peaceful and in the mountains about 2 miles from Alora town centre.
The rooms are of a high standard with all the necessary items to ensure the stay is comfortable.
We chose to have dinner here also and the 3 course meals were great value and cooked perfectly by the hosts.
    Wifi available throughout. Parking provided.
Probably the best place we stayed at during our 2 week tour of Spain.

a very nice small hotel far from tourism in peaceful rural idyll. the hotel is in tip top condition in its class with a beautiful romantic garden with small oases. the hotel was built by a former English owner in Spanish style and run by an enthusiastic, personally oriented and service-oriented Dutch couple. hotel's cuisine is characterized by excellent local produce and exciting tasty ingenuity
Absolut anbefalelsesværdigt hvis du er til landlig idyl
