Frank Ma is a well known restaurant operator with several successful restaurants in the Atlanta area. While Ma is no longer involved in this restaurant, his hand in creating the menu and the food preparation makes it a favorite among the local Asian community and area residents.

Frank Ma South shares a kitchen with Chopsticks and Wingnuts - two concepts for fast meals and delivery. But the secret is to ask for the Frank Ma menu - available for both dine in and take out / delivery. This is primarily a takeout and delivery restaurant. There are about 6-7 tables in the main dining room, and another large table for groups in an adjoining room. Decor is nothing special - simple chairs with plain laminate tables and walls in need of a coat of paint. But you are here for the food.

Ask for the Frank Ma menu. The Frank Ma South menu delivers large portions of well prepared authentic Chinese food.

We start with an appetizer. Be adventuresome - try the braised gluten or the spicy sliced beef and tendon.

The Shanghai dumplings are the pretty good - not quite as delicate as those in Shanghai, but good. The pan fried dumplings are excellent. The chive dumplings are very good.

The entrees we have tried are always very good. My favorite is the Pork Belly w/ Leeks - nice meaty chunks of pork belly with leeks in a sauce. This dish is very rich - but oh so tasty. Yu Shiang Pork and Yu Shiang Beef are both very good, but the Yu Shiang Eggplant is my favorite. If they are available, the snow pea tips are a treat. We loved the Shrimp Stir Fried w/ Snow Pea Shoots. Even traditional dishes like Kung Pao Chicken are excellent - not the overly salty fare found on most Chinese restaurant menus.

There are plenty of options - and we can't wait to try new dishes. Everything to date has been excellent - and something we would try again. Prices are inexpensive and the portions are large. And remember - while you can get food from the Chopsticks menu, it is nothing special - just the traditional Americanized version. If you want really good food at reasonable prices, try Frank Ma South.
