OMG! Fair warning! I paid $179 for 1 night in a room (#1) that was literally the smallest room I've ever stayed in my 63 years, and worth under $50/night. It was less than 9' wide and maybe 12' long (but there was a chair, A/C unit and a table for the tv to sit on that took much of the room beyond the 5 or so feet beyond the bed). You couldn't hardly open the door into the Armoire all the way which was next to the bed to hang your clothes and there was about 15-18" between each sides of the bed and the walls so you had to squeeze sideways to get into bed. The A/C unit was very loud even on the lowest setting, the TV was very small, you couldn't look out the windows which were frosted and you couldn't open the two to get fresh air, even in the bathroom. A glass shelf above the sink didn't allow you to get your face above the sink to rinse it. There was splashed coffee or something else on one wall not cleaned.

As an FYI, the visitors in room 5 also wrote a horrible review in their in-house comment book just two comments above mine.

Room tip: Do not reserve room #1 Probably not #5 either based on the comment log at the lodge.

Thanks for your feedback and our sincere apologies on your experience. Our prices are competitive in the area and we will keep trying creative ways to let our guests know about the size of the room.

We have budget, queen rooms and more spacious suites. Alexander’s Lodge is a historic property and not every room is the same. We looked at your reservation and it looks like you got an early booking rate of $159 for the room totaling to ~$179 including tax for a small size queen room with attached bath. In the area by the mountains it’s a competitive price for a historic lodge that provides hot buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, air conditioned rooms with direct TV, complimentary wine, complimentary cookies, coffee maker, google mini information provider, free DVD to borrow, honor system for snacks, small trail at the property, 1 mile from Mt Rainier Nisqually entrance, a foam mattress bed .The room size is also advertised in booking.com and yes each of our rooms are of a different size and we try to mention that in the marketing channels too.

We will work hard to highlight the reasoning for our rates and the amenities we offer. We understand that an experience at a historic lodge is not for everyone. Thanks for taking the time to provide the feedback.

Inexpensive lodging one mile from Rainier National Park. Nice breakfast every morning. Beautiful property with a trout pond to relax around. Rooms are a little small, but we only needed them for sleep since we were in the park all day. Several decent restaurants close by. All in all a recommended place to rest at the end of a long day of hiking.

This is a very cool place. The rooms are quaint, and they have everything you need. There's a gaming room for the guests to come together and play games, and watch movies. With a convenient store down the street and Mt. Rainier in the opposite direction, this is a very cool/cute little getaway spot. The continental breakfast is good and plentiful. I'd recommend coming here if you want to get away, and be close to the mountain!

We absolutely loved the place. The service was really wonderful. Its a cute little historic lodge. They had games, movie dvd and ice cream too! The breakfast was pretty decent as well. The only con was that the bathroom was just outside our room but it was our private one and as big as room. Little pricey for the room but totally worth it!

This lodge is in an old home which has been divided up into rooms. Our room was musty and the carpet was simply dirty and smelled poorly. I had hoped that it would be a charming older property and instead I found an inn with a great location near Mt. Rainier, but which is well past its prime. It is in serious need of renovation and renewal both indoors and on the grounds.
