This was our third stay at the FS. Every time we go, I worry that it won't be as amazing as the time before, and every time, it's better! Despite the economy, they have not cut back on any of the amenities. The service continues to be outstanding. Despite the fact it is a luxury hotel, it is a great place for kids. We didn't get to spend much time at the serenity pool because it is adult-only, but it is a lovely addition to the resort. The outrigger program is amazing. Be sure and take advantage of it if you go!

This was the second time to visit this property. From the time you arrive until the time you depart EVERYTHING was outstanding! We were upgraded from a ocean view to a prime ocean view - major difference. Although you could not go wrong in staying in any room at this resort. The room was beautiful - especially the bathroom with so many amentities. The service was absolutely perfect. The grounds are so perfect. They really take care of you at the pool with fresh pineapple, water, treats, etc. WOW! The staff meet our every need. We ate at Duo's for breakfast - outstanding, Ferraros almost every day for lunch and a couple of times at Spago's - OUTSTANDING! We also recommend:

1. Joe's Bar & Grill (close to the hotel)
2. Tommy Bahamas (close to hotel)
3. Ruth Chris' (close to hotel)
4. Gannon's for breakfast (close to hotel and the most beautiful view!)
5. Hali'Imaile General Store

Valet service was outstanding, daily artist in lobby, whale watching, lobby bar - it was all fabulous. You cannot go wrong with Maui FC.

My wife and I had visited the Four Seasons on the Big Island (Hualalai) twice in the last few years and thought Hualalai was exceptional. We wanted to try something different in Maui, and the Four Seasons Maui did not disappoint.

The service at the resort was exceptional. Prior to our arrival, they secured dinner reservations for us, stocked our minibar with some hard to find items (my wife is pregnant and loves diet ginger ale), and made spa appointments. We booked a garden view room which promised no view of the ocean, but we had a stunning view of the ocean from our room. The room itself was very large and quite comfortable. The bed was very nice. The marble bathroom was quite large and nice. The grounds of the hotel themselves were stunning. The pool and beach area were quite stunning. The service at the pool could not have been better. The staff went beyond and above the call of duty in every way. The food served poolside was excellent in every way. Spago's was exceptional, and Ferraros was quite good for lunch and for dinner.

To reserve a prime cabana with ultimate shade and top notch views, you had to get up early. But the cabana was free and I was waking up early anyway. The adult pool is somewhat odd. Cabanas are not free and few seats offer views of the ocean. The large pool complex seemed a much better bet for us.

Modern Family was filming while we were there. Despite the staff's best efforts to minimize the inconvenience, it was annoying and distracting to have them there. I will say that the novelty was interesting for about the first 30 minutes but the novelty ran out shortly thereafter, let alone the 3 days they were in the pool area.

The resort offers only valet parking which was fine by us because the valets were great. We left the resort a few nights for dinner, and the service was always great. Also, I had a computer crisis while there and the concierge went above and beyond the call of duty to help me solve my problem.

The spa was adequate but nothing exceptional. The services were great but the facilities were quite lacking. The Hualalai spa is infinitely better in all respects. With that said, they did also offer foot and neck massages while you lounged by the pool which were quite nice.

The lobby bar with live music nightly and tapas was quite pretty and quite nice. Highly recommend it.

We did not go to Duo's for breakfast or dinner, but others raved about the breakfast. There is a coffee hut at the beach serving coffee, muffins, fruit and bagels if you are not in to the breakfast buffet and you can charge your room.

March is a great time of year for whale watching. It was amazing what you could see from the pool area. Also, the weather could not have been better for our trip.

As compared to Hualalai, Maui offers a much better beach, more (and to our mind better) food options, and equally beautiful views. It is a bit easier to obtain a prime pool cabana view at Hualalai without getting up as early, but the rooms are much nicer at Maui (except for the fabulous outdoor showers in the lower level rooms at Hualalai). The crowd is different at both. The Maui crowd is hipper and more age diverse than Hualalai. Hualalai is more secluded and private, but Maui is in the middle of the action. There are pros/cons to both places, but the bottom line is that both are fabulous places with different strengths. Relative to the other resort options in Maui, if your budget allows, there is no reason to stay anyone other than the Four Seasons Maui.

All in all a fabulous experience and it is hard to imagine a better experience. The crowning achievement at the hotel is the level of service. Every single person was extraordinary. They were solicitous without being intrusive.

Wow, this was definitely the place to stay for a great relaxing stay while enjoying the natural beauty of Hawaii.

We just spent the first week of March here on our first trip to Maui. As nice as the setting and the hotel were, the service is what sets this place apart from other hotels. As the parents of an infant we were pleased to see a nice crib and infant toiletries set up in our room upon arrival. The hotel also went out of its way to accomodate us with playpens, special diapers and even a little baby sleeping notice on the door.

The great service also extends to the pool where they come around with complimentary fruit, water, sunscreen, freezies, etc. I did go up to the Serenity pool and it was quite nice as well.

We had breakfast included in our rate and enjoyed Duo. We always had our dinners in nearby Kihei.

All in all we're looking forward to coming back as soon as we can.

We couldn't decide whether to stay at the Four Seasons or the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua on our recent trip so we ended up staying four days at the FS Maul and three at the Ritz. While the Ritz's setting is far more dramatically beautiful, there is no comparison between the hotels when it comes to service, food, and overall experience.

We were immediately upgraded to an executive suite at the Four Seasons, which was perfect since we were traveling with our four-month-old son. Not only was a crib set up in the room, but so were free stuffed animals, bath toys, and sponges spelling our baby's name. As for the Ritz's welcome: nothing - not even the crib we requested.

The television show Modern Family was filming all over the property during our stay, which made things even more fun (and never obtrusive). FS Maul promotes how many free activities they have and they are right to do so. The outrigger canoe trip at the Ritz is about $100 (although it is much longer than the free FS offering).

Spago had decent food and stellar service and views. Duo's breakfast buffet wonderful and more or less worth the price. Even the shops on-site were interesting. Every day, local artists would display their wares, some of which were quite good.

The only flaw we could find with the resort was its geography and general un-Hawaiian-ness. The setting and beach could belong to a beachside resort anywhere (CA, Florida, etc.). The rooms are just about identical to the ones at FS Las Vegas or Maui - there is really no Hawaiian look to the rooms or public areas (the art collection is very much Hawaiian, though).

As for choosing between FS Maui and the Ritz - visit the beaches at the Ritz and walk the Kapalua Ocean Trail - then head back to FS Maui for the night.
