We had a pleasant enough stay but it is very dated and slightly overpriced in this day and age of grab a deal. The beds were very uncomfortable and hard and the neighbours in the lodge next door were very noisy one night. It was pleasant enough but a lot could be done to improve it and there is little choice at the moment in Kaitaia.

Room tip: Don't get a room down the back near the lodge

Kaitaia is what it is. You are out in the boonies if you are headed up to Cape Reinga. But it is good to know what to expect. The hotel is older & dated but it is clean & tidy & that is the main thing. It costs more than a similar hotel in the US but that's all I have to compare it to. We arrived about 8:15 at night & the lady was not too happy about that. She was much more pleasant in the morning.

We paid $129 for a studio unit and expected something a little better than what we got. The motel was clean and tidy but dated. We stayed one night only and it was adequate for what we required however we would normally expect to pay no more than $100 for something like this. Very friendly welcome and reception.

This place was very dated and quite dark untill it was time to go to sleep then the lights outside kept me awake most of the night, the room was very light.
Could do with abit of modernising.
Bathroom was ok as was the kitchen, the brown was abit old fashion.
Owner was very nice and pleasant
