The KG Kitchen bar is a great neighborhood restaurant. We had two appetizers; a shrimp, bacon pieces and grits was phenomenal as was the Baratta (I can't spell). For dinner we each got something different. The salmon was great as was the hamburger. There's something for everyone. They even have pizza!

Excellent brunch. The 5 of us all had great food. 2 omelette, the French toast and then a traditional eggs Benedict and an eggs Benedict with shrimp and grits was eggscellent.

We moved our daughter into an apartment near by and happened upon this place in search of dinner. Friendly staff, nice menu and great food were our reward after moving furniture for two days.
We had the potato fritters (special), smoked chicken spring rolls, wagon wheel bolognese, penne arrabbiata, gemelli and kale salad. All of our meals were delicious and the service was great! We will be back!

Two years ago, we had fabulous calamari at Kitchen Bar. This year, we wanted it again. Although it was not on the luncheon menu, the chef made it for us. The waitress told us that it would be different as they had a new chef. This version was fantastic: made with a sweet chili sauce that had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, cooked just right so that it was tender. To follow I had the chicken kabob which was delicious. My friend was equally happy with her lamb burger. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. If I lived in Providence, I would eat here all the time.

Although a new owner should be allowed to make changes that they see fit, however if you buy a restaurant with a winning strategy, why mess with success?

On the plus side, the wonderful staff remains and they still have their excellent drink list.

Now for the disappointment... KitchenBar was known for its comfort food that you didn't find at every other restaurant. Chicken saltimbocca, orecchiette, kabobs, meatloaf with a Jack Daniels gravy... the list goes on. Now their new, smaller menu is filled with items that can be found at surrounding restaurants like Red Stripe or Waterman Grille. There's so many unique restaurants in RI, it's a shame that this isn't anymore. However, that could be excused if the new recipes were good, but the pizza had a bitter, plain sauce and the burger, while large was bland and flavorless. If the basics aren't good, then it makes one nervous to try the other things on the menu. I'll go back once more, but I suspect KitchenBar won't be a regular stop anymore other than for drinks.
