I love to buy meats here! Carne asada, and exotic meats for sale! Great sandwiches too and very friendly service!!!! It's in the corner of the shopping center, Ugly steaks are great to take home and enjoy on the grill! Just ask at the counter and they will accommodate most any BBQ you're having!

Just got back from Dickmans on Oracle-Christmas Eve-Eve. Busy, busy people packed in lines mostly waiting for Ugly Steaks. Great friendly service, and organization to handle everyone. Can't wait to barbecue on Christmas Day. We have had these in the past, so know the steaks will not disappoint, and we went today just in case they sell out! All their choices of meats look great, so am sure you couldn't make a wrong choice.

And by this I mean that most meats are sold frozen and not in individual portions, so you have to cook them before freezing again. However, if you are looking for duck, lamb, rabbit, elk, or even kangaroo, chances are you will find it there. Also a lot of fish and seafood which I cannot eat so I am less familiar with the variety.

Items are not cheap! So come prepared. The staff is friendly and efficient. They also sell organic veggies but the choice is limited and prices are stiff.

Nice place to get your supplies for special occasions.

Very good friends introduced us to Dickman's Ugly Steaks earlier this year, and we are hooked.

Ingredients to serve five or six adults:

2 1/2 lbs of Ugly Steak, currently 10.99/lb
8 cloves of garlic, crushed
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
7 oz Guinness Draft beer, poured from a 14oz black can with a gold harp on it
salt and pepper to taste, too much is better than not enough

Combine all of the above ingredients into a baking dish so the steaks can marinate in the refrigerator for a couple of hours, turning occasionally

Pour the remaining 7oz of Guinness Draft beer into a chilled glass and enjoy immediately

Preheat grill to hot on one side, medium on the other, and cool in the center.

Just prior to grilling, place marinated steaks onto paper towels to sop up the marinade.

Open another Guinness Draft beer, pour into chilled glass, and place near the grill for enjoyment while grilling. There will be no time to run to the refrigerator while grilling.

Place steaks over hot grill for one minute, medium grill for one minute, turn once and place over hot grill for one minute, medium grill for one minute, then, without turning a second time, place in cool center of grill and close the lid . Enjoy your Guinness until your ThermaPen meat thermometer reads 117 degrees. On my grill, the total time, start of finish, is about 6 or 7 minutes.

Remove steaks from grill, rest for five minutes while you finish your Guinness, then slice across the grain into 1/4 inch slices, and serve.

I recommend a nice bottle of Malbec wine from Argentina, such as 'A Lisa' Malbec with dinner. Or, if you'd rather, another Guinness Draft.

If you don't have a ThermaPen, you should. It's like buying an insurance policy for perfect steaks every time. The price is equal to about three prime steaks from AJ's. Amazon can have one on your doorstep within two days.
