“Among the most untouched waterways in the US”

St Croix National Scenic Riverway
Reviewed 1 May 2014

You will love kayaking, canoeing or any boating on the St. Croix River. With hundreds of miles of barely touched shores to explore, it is as if one is taken back to the last century! Just breathtaking scenery!

Beautiful area for a drive any time of year and only an hour away from the city life. So many hiking trails to explore in the Interstate park. Rent a canoe or kayak and experience the abundant wild life. There are many places along the rivers edge for picnicking. It's a must see!

This is a beautiful river, rich in natural beauty. Start at the visitors center in St. Croix Falls, WI where there are many interesting exhibits, a film, and a map to orient yourself. If you have time try and boat some of the river. The more time you can spend on the water the better. It is very pretty and peaceful.

You can drive south on Hwy 95 from Taylors Falls, MN to Afton, MN and enjoy views of the river. There are some beautiful little towns along the way to explore including Taylors Falls, Marine on St. Croix, and Stillwater where some scenes from the film Grumpy Old Men were shot.

Beautiful, peaceful area. This area is just a stones throw from Minneapolis-St.Paul. So it is best to avoid weekends, holidays, and the peak summer months if possible.

Took a fall drive both up and down the Riverway and enjoyed it both ways. The road is easy to navigate and there are some interesting small towns along the way to stop in and stretch your legs. Very scenic.

Wonderful setting for a drive in the Fall. Put the top down and take the side roads!! The colors in late Sept and early October will be stunning.
