“Nice, cute and cozy”
Reviewed 20 September 2010 for a stay in September 2010

Stayed at the Henry Derby house in a lovely suite and had a great time. The owners are attentive and hospitable and made sure that everything was all set with our room, and in addition, gave us a list of places to go and things to see in Salem. She even mapped out our walking route for us.
The apartment suite itself was very homey and yes, I would go back and stay again.

“What a treat to stay at the Henry Derby House!!!”

This is my second stay at the Henry Derby House and both times were absolutely wonderful.
The B&B is a block from the beautiful downtown Salem with lots to do and great restaurants.
Both B&B's are right next door to each other and I have stayed both places. The bed linens and towels are so plush. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The very best part of all is the owner/hostess, Peg Camarda. This beautiful lady serves a wonderful breakfast and will delight you with stories of Salem and the people who live there. This is THE place to stay in Salem.

“Homey, comfortable, and welcoming!”
Reviewed 17 August 2010 for a stay in August 2010

Our stay at the Henry Derby House was all we could have hoped it to be. At arrival, we were welcomed by Peg. After settling into our ample room with bath, Peg went over a map of the city to show us the highlights Salem had within walking distance. She told us about combination tickets that can be bought to visit the historical sites. (This B&B is very centrally located and Salem is a city to walk about.) She also went over restaurants of all price ranges, where we could go for dinner. Waking up the next morning we were presented with a wonderful continental breakfast. The fruit assortment was very fresh and certainly enough for us and the others staying there. Then we were presented with several different bread, bagels, and muffins. The coffee was delicious, and another guest commented favorable on the herbal tea. A really nice touch was that when she was done serving, Peg came and sat at the dining room table with us and regaled us with stories about her B&B experiences, as well as anecdotes about Salem. She answered all the questions that came up with honestly and patience.
Off we went for a day of sightseeing, including the Witch House, the Peabody/Essex Museum, and a trolley ride during which we marked down places to go on the next day.
Our room and bath were very clean. The bed was comfortable and afforded us a good night's sleep in preparation for another day of sightseeing. We told Peg that we thought we'd sleep in a little the next morning and she offered to bring up breakfast and leave it outside the room, or we could come down whe we were ready which we did do around 10 a.m. There is coffee service in the room, if you want a cup before breakfast which ususally starts at 9 a.m. There also is a small refrigerator for anyone who would like that convenience. It was a joy to be able to park and leave our car at the B&B as Salem has a lot of paid parking. I would recomment the Henry Derby House to any one who loves to stay in an historic house that is "homey, comfortable, and welcoming!"

“Charming Getaway in Salem”
Reviewed 16 August 2010 for a stay in August 2010

My friend and I stayed at the Henry Derby House for a weekend getaway. Upon arriving Peg was there to great us, and was very informative on places to visit around town. We stayed in the Yellow Room and it was very clean and cute! Comfy beds, lovely furnishings and was impressed by the overall cleanliness of the inn. We enjoyed our stay at the Inn, loved having breakfast with Peg and are looking forward to visiting again in October!
