We took people from out of town on this last weekend. If you have someone who can't walk so far or is perhaps pressed for time this is a great way to see the sights along the entire downtown part of the Riverwalk. If you get an operator who has a sense of humor so much the better. They tell you anecdotes about the city and history of the Riverwalk. Discounts for Seniors and Military. We had people on the boat with us who had strollers so they can accommodate that as well. This was a daytime cruise but we have also gone on the boats at Christmas time when the lights are up. Beautiful Make sure your camera is charged.

We boarded the cruise near the RiverCenter Mall. It was about 5:30 pm on a Sunday. The weather was perfect: not too hot and the sun started to come out. Our boat was not too crowded. Our guide, David, did a great job of narrating the tour.
Tour lasts about a 1/2 hour and returns you to the place you boarded at. It was nice to see some of the areas we hadn't walked to.
Definitely worth the $12.
Our hotel room overlooked the riverwalk and of what we saw, boats seemed least crowded in the mornings, most crowded (as was the riverwalk in general) on Saturday.
Would go again if in the area.

When in San Antonio, take a river cruise that is very informative about the history of the area. Jerry was a good guide and knew a lot about the area.

This is a fun little cruise, but overpriced for what it is (a 35 minute cruise around). We didn't get as much information or history on our tour as I had hoped, as our tour guide wanted to be a comedian instead. It was nice to get a different view of the riverwalk and some of the sights, though. Also, we went early in the morning - I recommend this, because it's way less crowded, and not so hot.

After a busy day sightseeing in the heat we decided the best way to see more of the River Walk was by boat. The trip takes about half an hour and you get a running commentary from the captain. Our captain pointed out places that have appeared in movies and gave us some of the history of the area.

The boats are very frequent and it costs $12 for adults. Going round on the boat reminded me a bit of Venice with the low arched bridges that you go under.
