Description: Our chefs have painstakingly created a menu of wine-friendly fare consisting of old world hors d'oeuvres and regionally inspired tapas. From baked Texas goat cheese with kalamata olives to fresh chocolate covered strawberries, the menu caters to the diversity of the food enthusiasts. Charles Court, at the rear of Zinc, is a truly serene gathering place for a rare outdoor experience. The private, spacious courtyard makes for a quiet sanctuary from the clatter of downtown city streets and the Riverwalk.

this place is a hidden gem in the overpriced downtown area. Great atmosphere, better food and nice wine list to choose from. Go once and you will be hook.

A short walk from our hotel on the Riverwalk, this little bistro was probably the highlight of our weekend. We sat on the back terrace, with heaters and blankets available at the ready in case of a chill. The wine list is adequate; the cigar list pleased my hubby, even though he had brought his own. The food was the highlight of this evening. We had the Texas Chopped Salad and the Zinc Burger. The salad was amazingly light with couscous, salmon, tomatoes, and other things I don't remember, with ranch dressing on the side. Incredible! The burger was perfection. We finished the meal with the brioche apple bread pudding soufflee. It was served with a dollop of ice cream, crispy on top and light and creamy in the middle. It was a great ending to our meal. Service was attentive and not overbearing in the least. The caliber of food here is light years above what we found on the Riverwalk. Venture up to street level and you will be rewarded. The only downside to this restaurant is the unisex bathrooms. They have a pungent odor that is such a juxtaposition to the rest of the restaurant.

It was great to grab a few drinks before dinner, enjoyed the ambiance and the wine/ champagne selection. Didn;t get a chance to try any food.

One of the few Cigar bars in San Antonio. The cigar seating is in the garden in the back and is a wonderful place to relax, have wine, dinner and cigars. My wife and I loved this place. So did the couple we met (Sarah and Paul from Norfolk VA). We had appetizers for dinner and a good bottle of wine.

Pros - An incredible wine list; maybe a little pricey, but lots of good choices. Really good food; unique and flavorful choices. A great Chef. The outdoor garden is really nice; gas heaters take off the chill and saddle blanket/panchos to wear. If the temps are 45 degrees or warmer, you are comfortable in the garden. Clientele is fairly upscale. This is just a wonderful place for a quiet meal, some conversation, and a good cigar. Decent cigar menu, and prices are fair.

Cons - Off the beaten track a little in the Riverwalk area, a little hard to find. Wait staff is a little slow, but this isn't really a problem if you have a bottle of wine :-)

We like stopping every now and again because of the great wine selection. They have great food too, I recommend the pizzas. The patio seating is charming provided it's not the middle of summer.
