Have been coming to Roche Harbor for over 10 years now with family. Roche Harbor is a beautiful spot for a getaway. The resort has a good mixture of relaxation and activity.

Always stay in the historic cabins, and have probably stayed in all of them (would not recommend the schoolhouse). While there can sometimes be some inconveniences (mostly in terms of supplies provided), it is always generally a good experience. The beds are comfortable and the cabins spacious yet cozy. The highlights would be sitting out on the porch in the front cabins looking at the Harbor, and nighttime campfires in the pits provided. One downside can definitely be noise at night. The cabins are situated right below the local airport and also beside the parking lot and road where staff leave at night. Regardless, a stay there is an overall good experience.

The resort services are great, and provide anything you might need. The Lime Kiln and the Madrona Grill each serve tasty dishes for all meals (have not tried the MacMillan dining room yet, but sure it is good too). The store has any food you might want, although it can be pricier than the stores in Friday Harbor. The nighttime Colors ceremony is always a treat to watch. It is always interesting just to walk through the area and marvel at all the history around you. The resort has done a wonderful job of preserving the buildings and providing signage to educate you of all the history of Roche Harbor.

The staff are always super friendly and helpful, and provide you help for anything you need fixed during your stay. A wonderful place to stay, and always a treat to return to.

I went for a friend's wedding, and the wedding was beautiful and appeared to have good service from the hotel.

I didn't seek out many hotel amenities while there one night but I did visit their onsite small grocery store, which I thought was a nice perk.

I stayed in the historic hotel building because it was the cheapest option and it wasn't really my thing. Uneven floor and shared bathroom.

I went to another guest's accommodation which are the newer cabins and thought that was really nice. I'd recommend that option if you stay at Roche Harbor.

Note the resort is on the opposite end of the island from the ferry pier and surrounding town of Friday Harbor, so if you stay here you'll need a car, Uber or taxi. I don't really recommend visiting any of the San Juan Islands without a car anyway, though.

My goddaughter got married here in the grounds with reception in one of the event rooms. The location is stunning. Everything went off without a hitch and the food (buffet) was very good indeed. The wedding party were responsible for decorating the room and also for clearing away the next day. We stayed in a house close by which was exceptional ( Roche Harbor Manor ) The resort has a good taxi service and extensive grounds with great views owner the marina. The island itself is lovely, very pretty with a laid back feel.

Hotel is set in picture perfect surroundings. We stayed in hotel's king room, sharing bathroom with other guests, always available for use. The hotel was completely renovated in 2016, so disregard any bad review from past. Many of the cottages are also undertaking renovations, Hotel rooms have quality furniture, comfortable beds, immaculate linens, sinks in room and bathrooms were also tastefully renovated. I particularly loved the fact that Theodor Roosevelt once upon time stayed in room suite just few steps from our room, what a special treat. Roche Harbor is one of top harbors I have seen in my life, people working and living there take a lot of pride in keeping it in great shape. Every morning the harbor's flags are taking down with a ceremony. In the morning their beautiful church plays music, able to be heard over the whole bay...it was so romantic. I totally recommend to visit and stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: every room has a great view

Dinner at the Roche Harbor Resort was a great experience. While the outdoor eating space was pretty full, we got a table for two immediately right by the marina. I've never had such speedy service anywhere. The wait staff was the best! It was fun to go and peak inside the resort after dinner too. Very elegant.
