Went here for lunch based on TripAdvisor reviews. We wanted New Mexican food, but wanted to avoid the bigger, more touristy restaurants (been there, done that). We are SO glad we landed on this place. I had the chicken enchilada with NM green chili sauce; my partner had their sandwich combo (turkey, ham, and cheese) with their green chili stew and let me taste it. OMG! I loved my enchilada, but I was so envious of his green chili stew. Our wait person had recommended both and mine was incredible, but my next visit to SF will require a trip back here just to have my own bowl of the stew.

It's a very small restaurant--you practically sit cheek by jowl. The wait staff and owners are wonderfully delightful. Just before our food came out, they very politely asked us if we would mind moving to a corner two-top so that they could make up a table for a party of 6. They were so deferential--it was a pleasure to accommodate them. Food came out quickly and was piping hot.

NOTE: Their cuisine is New Mexican, but TA does not show that as a separate category, so we indicated that it is Mexican. But there are subtle differences to be appreciated with New Mexican fare.

When we walked into the restaurant for lunch, it was already bustling. The kitchen is in the back and there are a variety of different table sizes that you can group together for different groups of people. The staff is amazingly nice and want to make sure our enjoyment in the restaurant is the best part. For a family of four with drinks it was around fifty dollars. There is a mix of food from homemade sandwiches to traditional Mexican food. Palacio Cafe is a great way to experience a traditional meal or a sandwich from home.

Had breakfast a few days ago. Amazing. 4 of us stopped in to this tiny place and were lucky enough to be seated on arrival. The flavors were wonderful. It was easy to see that everything was from scratch with quality ingredients and spices. There are a lot of choices for breakfast in Santa Fe and many of them are good to excellent, but this one takes the cake! Yum.

Food and service were very good. Not many tables, so come early. We sat outside which was nice except when there was traffic.
