Casa Abuela, was added in the 1950s and originally used as a goat shed. (We hope you’ll agree that we’ve made some improvements since then, though we’ve tried to maintain the property’s original rustic New Mexico charm.) It has a wood stove in the main bedroom and garden views from the twin bedroom. Comfortable living room for lounging and a full and open kitchen for meal prep and dining. The fully-equipped kitchen is stocked with Angela's handmade pottery. A cedar hot tub accommodates up to 6 bathers in another secluded courtyard brimming with trumpet vines and sunflowers. Perfect for stargazing or relaxing sore muscles after hiking or skiing on cold winter afternoons or cool summer nights. We hope you’ll enjoy dining from Angela’s hand-made pottery and sipping one of Jason’s beers, spirits, or cocktails—made with organic ingredients from our garden and juniper berries wild-harvested right here on the property! (If you’d like more of Jason’s intoxicants, visit one of Tumbleroot’s locations in town or you can put an order in on his website and he’d be happy to bring more home to you.) Feel free to check out Angela’s gallery in Santa Fe—either in person or online—to see what else she has in stock. (Paseo Pottery also offers classes if you feel like getting your hands in the mud!) Angela’s photography throughout the home is from our family’s recent two-year journey around the world. During our Big Field Trip, we hiked the Inca Trail, snuck into a dilapidated communist headquarters in Bulgaria, rode camelback through the Sahara, caught the swine flu in Istanbul, rode a dragon boat up the Perfume River, got chased out of the Grand Mosque of Uqba in Tunisia, lived on a vineyard in Portugal, were robbed at gunpoint in Bahía, taught at a tribal school in Rajasthan, biked through floating markets outside Bangkok, and communed with snow monkeys in the hot springs of Japan. Throughout our travels, we enjoyed lodging with local families, staying off the gringo trail, avoiding hotels at all costs, and generally trying to live like locals. When we returned home to Santa Fe, we decided to open our homestead to fellow travelers who crave a similar type of experience. We look forward to hosting your Santa Fe adventure! Our property is powered 100% by the sun—because there’s just so much of it here in New Mexico!

Very Rustic
To be fair about this home I will mention that both my wife and I are healthy but in our seventies. The home has a number of steps to reach the bedrooms and bathroom. If one were to misstep it will hurt. The bathroom is centrally located with all doors opening to it. If you are private about your bathroom habits it might be an issue. It does have a nice old clawfoot bathtub with shower. I am a light sleeper so the auto and truck noise from I-25 was an issue for me. Couldn't keep the window open to let the cool night air in. We did not take advantage of the hot tub but enjoyed sitting on the porch and visiting with the two cats who showed up every night. On the brightside it was easy to get to any of the Santa Fe attractions, the grill works well, the home was clean and beds comfortable.

Amazing Hosts and Very nice Home
Our flight was canceled the same day of our arrival. Jason and Angela aloud us to move the days of our stay one day without any penalty. They even received us with fruit and beer! The house is confortable, well located and perfect for a small group!

Great place to stay
This place is cool, rustic. We met Angela on the third day of our stay. She offered us a beer tasting of her husband Jason's brews, which we unfortunately had to turn down, but we appreciate the hospitality. There was also a basket of fresh greens, carrots, and herbs when we arrived. We were looking for a quiet place to stay and visit with our son and his roommate who live in Texas.. This place fit the bill. It is an easy run to Santa Fe and other attractions.

VERY AUTHENTIC ADOBE HOUSE
The adobe house is very conveniently located within about 10 minutes drive to the Old Town of Santa Fe. Although we did not get to experience the freshly baked bread nor meet Angela, we did have a basket of fresh garden produce waiting for us from Jason's garden and we enjoyed eating and walking thru the garden. We were travelling with our 9 & 12 year old grandkids and they absolutely loved the "authentic adobe home" and couldn't stop talking about it and loved their bedroom! The hot tub was a nice addition and totally private. There is good WIFI and cable tv available and plenty of dishes/utensils, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Due to the extremely warm July heat we experienced, the one thing that would be good in the listing description is the fact that the home is not air conditioned.Jason had left a fan in one bedroom and we did get a second for the other bedroom with no problem but when we arrived late in the afternoon on our first day it was pretty uncomfortable. Once the sun went down the house did cool off nicely.

Sweet Adobe in the Hills
My family (4 adults and 2 young children) recently stayed here and enjoyed it very much. The house is just outside of Santa Fe where you can really enjoy the views. Our hosts were very kind and hospitable - they offered lots of tips on interesting things to see and do, made us fresh bread twice (delicious!) and were attentive to whatever we needed. And did I mention the hot tub? Soaking under the stars was such a treat! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Wonderful stay in the foothills
We loved the rustic charm of this Adobe guest house. Jason and Angela could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We were totally new to the area and enjoyed exploring with our hosts excellent advice. Well equipped kitchen w microwave for cooking own meals. Enjoyed the hot tub and claw foot bathtub! Wonderfully quiet and v. easy and quick access to downtown Santa Fe. Strong WiFi signal if you still need to be connected! Definitely plan to return - great for walking, and we even went skiing - about 30 mins drive away!

Charming, relaxed, home away from home.
What a wonderful place to stay, we felt at home from the moment we arrived. Jason was extremely welcoming, helpful and informative and Angela bakes the best bread we've had in years. She also has her own gorgeous photos displayed throughout the cottage, beautiful. Hot tub was just what we needed, kids had a fantastic time playing in the snow and then warming up in the tub. Home well equipped, comfortable and just the right distance from town - close enough but just far enough away. Loved it - thank you.

Beautiful, relaxing, close to town....just perfect!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Jason and Angela's house and it was truly a perfect experience. The house is complete with 2 bedrooms, three beds, wifi, a full kitchen and living room and dining space, a grill and a super peaceful vibe. They gave us total privacy and the cedar hot tub was a great experience at the end of a day of hiking at Bandelier and provided some awesome stargazing. The house is a quick 15 minutes from downtown Santa Fe and I have to say it was much nicer staying right outside of Santa Fe. The view of the mountains is simply breathtaking.

Great hospitality, views and the ultimate home away from home
My two best friends and I stayed at the Kirkman's Cottage during our artist/meet in the middle retreat in January and it was serene, beautiful, comfortable and in a great location for our travel needs. Instantly we felt welcomed and at home with fresh seasonal vegetables, homemade bread and homemade brew samples from the Kirkman's. Thanks to basic supplies and the full kitchen with utensils and cookware, we enjoyed many home cooked meals during our stay. The cottage itself was charming, clean and warm with amazing views. Jason and angela were extremely helpful and gave us advice on how to make the most of our trip in New Mexico before we arrived and during our stay. It was truly an oasis in the New Mexican desert. I look forward to returning again with friends and family in future visits to Santa Fe!

Great place, friendly owners beautiful views we enjoyed it hope to come back! The rooms were a great size, you kinda just felt at home. Hot tub was very nice on the cold nights. Santa fe is a beautiful town but staying outside of town in a beautiful little house was well worth it.

About the neighbourhood
The guest house shares a 5-acre property with the main house. The guest house has its own private driveway and walled courtyard. The hot tub is in a separate courtyard between the guest house and the main house, and guests have unlimited private access to this space. The guest house has a shaded portal for grilling and outdoor dining. Guests may explore the property and beyond, the walking trail, gardens and greenhouses. The homestead is close enough to the plaza for convenience - a seven mile drive - but has privacy and plenty of space. Make yourself at home and feel free to explore the property. There’s a cedar hot tub, a disk golf course, an arroyo trail where you can hike for miles, and a large organic garden with two greenhouses.
Getting around
You'll need a car, preferably a 4-wheel drive if you visit in the winter since Santa Fe can get snow.
