Reserved a table in the bar as classical guitar was featured from 7 to 9. Comfortable room with very good music. Gracious informative server. Wine list focused on Spanish or Spain inspired bottles with full range of prices from low 30's to great wines in the hundreds. We ordered a Catena Malbec which was terrific around $45. The music started at 7 and the room filled with all tables occupied and most places at the bar taken as well. Friendly neighboring tables, refined classical guitar, and wonderful wine relaxed the mood. Then, the food...what a treat. All tapas were served hot, portions satisfying, delivered as described with excellent quality ingredients and subtle faithfully executed seasoning and presentations. Started with mussels which were plump and done just right with a delicious and understated sauce that allowed the mussels to shine. Bread, the all important delivery system for the sauce accompanying the mussels, was moist, dense and chewy...a critical detail. We followed with 5 more dishes with stuffed artichokes, potato brochettes with blue cheese, a shrimp special and lamb brochettes with Tres Leches cake to finish. With the great service, great food, fun atmosphere and music, the evening was memorable. If in Santa Fe, El Meson should definitely be in your plan.

El Mason recently went through a change in ownership, a redesign, and, MORE IMPORTANTLY, engaged a new Chef, who created a new menu // What a GREAT job was done with the venue, the menu and the cooking // At the top of Canyon Road, El Meson has re-established itself as a wonderful stop to take a break, end the day or just be a destination spot // Not to be missed //

Experienced tapas for the first time and they were so good! There was a guy playing his guitar and harmonica and he was great! His whole set up was really good! His voice was amazing! must see! We went on a Thursday night I don't know what nights he plays. His name is Clayton West!
