We stopped in after the caverns for a quick bite. It is quite nice. I highly recommend the ice cream. There is a Duke of Hazard gift shop and museum. There is a Harard County Police car and a General Lee outside along with Cooters wrecker.

The staff is very friendly and there is table and chairs outside. Be advised if there is no coffee just ask they will be happy to make you some.

The attached Cooter's in Luray museum is free. Prices are ok for the food. But the service is excellent. Stopped by after going to the museum. Asked what milk shake flavors they had, informed any of the ice cream selection they have can be made into a milkshake. She also offered to top with whip cream and sprinkle of cinnamon on top of my deep dish apple pie milkshake. It was awesome. not to thick that I had to struggle to suck the milkshake up and not watery with too much milk, just right. My wife had some delicious apple cider.

Museum and gift shop are a must even if not a Dukes Of Hazard fan. Had lunch here and the burgers, sandwiches and ice cream were all good

We decided to stop at Cooter's Luray as our pit-stop along I-81. It was a short detour (about 15 minutes) off of the interstate. We noticed that they had an on-site diner, Daisy's Diner, and thought it would suffice as a place to fill our bellies for dinner. We figured Cooter's would be a good ALL-IN-ONE stop where we could site see a bit, stretch our legs, use the restrooms and eat.

The drive to Cooter's and Daisy's Diner at Luray was a beautiful, peaceful ride. Upon arriving, Daisy's is located to the left of the building. It does have it's own entrance. Outside I noticed an ice machine and a couple of patio sets out along the front. Inside we were greeted by staff behind the counter. A quick glance of the lunch/dinner menu revealed the limited selections: Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grilled Cheese, Chicken Salad, Hot Dog, BLT, Turkey Club, Chili and Red Beans & Rice They also have a Boss Hogg sandwich, which sounds like a combined grilled cheese and pulled pork all in one. Sandwiches came with the choice of potato salad, macaroni salad, bagged chips or watermelon. Kids menu consisted of the Hot Dog, PB&J and a Grilled Cheese. There is an ice cream counter with Hershey's hand scooped ice cream with about a dozen flavor selections. Milkshakes, pie and candy are also available for "dessert".

Here you place your order and the counter, pay and then take a seat. This is NOT full service dining. After reviewing the menu board, we decided on a Kids Grilled Cheese Meal (with chips for $3.99), an Adult Grilled Cheese (with chips for $5.99) and a Adult Pulled Pork (with chips for $5.99). The Pulled Pork was available Carolina or Memphis style. Chip options included Lays Classic and a variety of Route 11 chips, which are local (from Virginia). Options for drinks were available in a soda/water cooler. We then took a seat in the dining room and waited for our food to be brought out to us. Within 5 minutes our food was being delivered to the table. Food was served up on disposable plates. Condiments and plastic utensils were available at a counter in front of the grill.

The Food: At first glance, I was disappointed in MY meals. The KIDS grilled cheese meal & the ADULT grilled cheese meal were EXACTLY the same...in size, portion..in EVERY way imaginable. So, why charge $2 MORE for an adult grilled cheese? My husband was happy with his Carolina style pulled pork. I tried a bite and thought it was pretty good. Our child was happy with her grilled cheese. I thought my grilled cheese was decent, but nothing special. It was toasty in the center, but the edges were a little soggy from the butter. Cheese was melted. Chips were good.

The Atmosphere: Small dining space that is reminiscent of a camp store or convenience store that has been decorated to match the Dukes of Hazzard theme. Tables are mismatched, chairs are mismatched. There are a few bar style seats as well. Walls are decorated with floral wall paper, pictures of Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) and mirrors. One wall is the water/soda coolers. Stained glass globes cover the lights over the dining tables, which remind me of grandma's kitchen. There is a HUGE chicken statue beside the door as well as a juke box. Juke box is functional and pumps out FREE tunes of your choice. Chicken statue was a hit with the kids. Dining space appeared clean. Restrooms are shared with Cooter's Museum next door.

Service: FAST and for the most party friendly. We welcoming despite that we arrived around 5:30pm & they close at 6pm. They even asked us IF we were planning on getting ice cream before we left to head over to the museum.

Overall, we had an OK visit with Daisy's Diner. The BEST feature was their speed of service, relaxed atmosphere and FREE tunes in the juke box. Prices were OK. Menu is VERY limited. Would have liked to have seen more on the menu such as a burger, fried chicken and french fries. Funny thing because they actually had a sign on location that said "say cheeseburgers and chilidogs". It is a basic, simple grill at best. I would probably NOT dine here again in the future unless short on time. Food was OK for what they offered, but I felt robbed being charged $2 MORE for my meal than my child's when it was EXACTLY the same. My suggestion for anyone considering dining here is to set your expectation low, so you will NOT be disappointed. The restaurant location has lots of potential, but is currently lacking.

Note: Breakfast is served until 10:30am daily. There is a picnic pavilion and playground located at the opposite end of the building for those who wish to "picnic" outdoors.
