We had an unbelievable weekend at Piney Hill! We arrived a little hesitant on what to expect since this was our first B&B experience but we left feeling like we were leaving old friends. Hank and Wiley are amazing; they are so welcoming and friendly. We stayed in the Walter Rogers room on the first floor. The room was adorable and it was stocked with anything a person could possibly need. The breakfasts were ridiculous and we both probably gained a solid 5 pounds from all the amazing fresh out of the oven pastries. They also do a great job of showing you the best restaurants, winery’s, and outings. We experienced many of the amenities Luray had to offer with Hank and Wiley's assistance.
Overall we had the most amazing and relaxing weekend. I cannot wait to go back!

I brought my husband to Piney Hill for his Birthday. We haven't had the greatest experience with B&B's in the past. I thought I would give a B&B one more chance, because people always talk about them. I came across this B&B actually from Tripadvisor. I sure am glad we did. Hank and Wiley made us feel so comfortable and at home. We rented the Rosebud Cottage, and it was AMAZING!!! It had amazing views. The cottage it self is so cozy, and decorated beautifully. We enjoyed the hot tub every night. Everything was so clean inside and outside. The best part was the breakfast's delivered to our door in a basket every morning. Ya'll, these breakfast's are to die for. My husband and I are not normally breakfast people. We ate everything, both mornings. We want Wiley and Hank to adopt us :)

Room Tip: I highly recommend spending the extra money to rent the cottage.

My husband surprised me with this B&B getaway for our first anniversary. He just couldn't imagine that so many five star reviews could be wrong. And they weren't. Piney Hill was the perfect way to escape our lives in D.C. for a weekend. Hank and Wiley are the quintessential hosts...they were there with recommendations when you need them, but absent when you are looking for some privacy. The breakfasts truly are amazing -- filling and better than many restaurants I've been too. (I just had to pick up their cookbook to learn how to make the french toast and sticky buns). The mid-afternoon treats (chocolate cake), the cookies in the dining room, the anniversary card were all touches that made us feel pampered and did not go unnoticed. We stayed in the Mark Ruffner room and loved having the extra sitting area space. We weren't bothered at all by the separate (private) bath across the hall. Literally it was steps away and reserved solely for our room. We were impressed that very little sound carries in the house once you are in your room. We were also impressed by the large DVD/VHS library. They make it really easy for you to kick back and do nothing, which is exactly what we were looking for. We will back. Next time we might try the cottage we have heard so much about.

Room Tip: All the rooms are adorable, but we liked the size of the Mark Ruffner room if you aren't staying...

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend at Piney Hill. From the moment we walked in the door, Hank and Wiley made us feel extremely welcome. After reviewing an area map we were brought up to our room, the Emma Ruffner Rogers Room. It was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Also it was decorated in celebration of Valentine's day which was a thoughtful touch. You can tell that Hank and Wiley pay attention to the details to make every guest feel special.

All of the restaurant recommendations Hank and Wiley made were very helpful; we went to Rancho Viejo and Victorian Inn for our dinners and Gathering Grounds for lunch. We also took their recommendation to go to Wisteria Farm and Vineyard in nearby Stanley for a wine tasting after we visited Luray Caverns. In the evenings we picked movies from their vast collection and relaxed in our room, enjoying the warmth from the fireplace.

The breakfast and afternoon snack deserve their own paragraph :) The breakfasts were amazing- you will NOT go away hungry! I don't want to give too much away but everything was delicious and prepared with care. Hank and Wiley catered to dietary restrictions such as vegetarian and gluten-free fare but no one felt left out since everything was so yummy. Hank checked on us during breakfast to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our food. Also we had an excellent chocolate cake for our afternoon snack delivered to our room.

There is a sign in their dining room that says something like "Arrive as strangers, leave as family." My husband and can vouch that this is true and we look forward to seeing Hank and Wiley again.

We spent a couple of nights in the Rosewood Cottage. Hank and Wiley made us feel welcome from the moment we made the reservation until the day we left Luray. The property is a couple of miles out of town and is right next to a farm. It's beautiful and very relaxing. Walking into the main house, we could tell right away that lots of love and years of collecting the right pieces have gone into the place. Breakfast and the afternoon snacks were excellent! The homemade cookies waiting for us in the cottage were also a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again.
