My wife, daughter and I, along with our dog, spent 5 awesome days at Lazy Bear Lodge. The location is great. Lazy Bear is close enough to town and SNP that it was easy to go get dinner or groceries, or go out for a morning of exploring at SNP. At the same time it was secluded enough to enjoy nature and get away from everything. My wife and I spent our mornings on the front porch drinking coffee and planning out our day and we all spent a couple of the evenings by the fire pit enjoying the fire and the hundreds of fireflies.
Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience. From the wood supplied in the storage bins outside, to the k-cups for getting our daily dose of caffeine.
Lynnette was always very responsive to any questions we had while planning our trip, as well as during our stay. When we make our way back to the Shenandoah Valley we will definitely be using Lazy Bear as our base camp.
Cozy cabin in the woods. A secluded, quiet and peaceful escape. Only a short drive to town. Convenient to Luray and SNP and Skyline Drive. Dirt driveway leading to the cabin is a little rough in spots but navigable with the right vehicle. Not a problem for us. It's the Mountains and the price you pay for privacy.
Wildlife abounds. Found some bear tracks in the yard and the next morning we were thrilled to see the bear who made them! Saw lots of deer and fawns, groundhogs, turkey, birds, bullfrogs. Enjoyed listening to the rushing water from the stream running through the woods. Really enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the wraparound porch, taking in the scenery and wildlife, reading, relaxing, stargazing and watching the fireflies light up the sky.
The cabin is cozy. The owners have thought of everything! Feels more like home than a vacation rental. Love the bear-themed decor. I have vacationed in many cabins in multiple states and this by far is the most welcoming and homey. Can't wait until Fall to try out the Fireplace, Firepit, and Hot tub. Enjoyed using the grill to cook out one night. We had breakfast a few mornings at the Hawksbill Diner before heading out to SNP. Good country cooking and everyone is so friendly. Gennaro's Italian Restaurant in town was very good, (even for NYC pizza snobs) and Triple Crown Barbeque in Luray was awesome!
Really curious about the history of the old house and cemetery on the property and other abandoned houses nearby.
We enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Bear lodge so much that we became sad when it came time to leave and we decided we needed one more day. We were so thankful, Lynette was able to accomodate us.
Thanks again Lynette for sharing your beautiful cabin with us and Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift of honey and mugs. We will think fondly of Lazy Bear Lodge each time we use them. We are already planning to return.
Beautiful secluded cabin that was perfect for a long weekend getaway! Well stocked, clean, and comfortable with sweet homey touches! Loved the deck and hot tub! Short drive to Skyline drive and Luray Caverns.

The property and surroundings were gorgeous, peaceful, and truly secluded - exactly what we were looking for.
