Wiechec's serves the kind of food your mom made when she was on her game. Delicious but not pretentious is what you will enjoy here. The service is friendly and prompt. You will be happy with any of your favorites that you order here from soup to sandwiches to substantial lunches/dinners, but no desert.
Bring money, it's cash only.

Thank Brad S

We had not been here for a while, but today's visit was very satisfying. We had the fish fry ($12.95), huge fall-off-the-plate planks of moist flavorful crispy haddock, a mound of crunchy fries and tasty enough slaw, mac salad and potato salad. The only slightly off note was what tasted to me like deli - salad potato salad....my dining partner disagreed. Rye bread was fresh and heavy with Carraway seed, we got two big wedges of lemon, and received extra tartar sauce (house made? Seemed better than out of the gallon jug) as requested. New England chowder was generously served...it was thick, but not gluey as feared...thick with potatoes). Soft drinks come in cans, which is a nice touch....no off tasting sodas from the gun.
lots of folks enjoying other dishes as well...big fat burgers, beef on wecks, pierogies....there's a pretty large menu. They even have some high roller fish platters for about $33.
The friendly, folksy servers have been there forever....the kind of waitresses that are fast, efficient and call you "honey". Very pleasant and kinda fun.
restaurant is clean, but those restrooms....ugh. we'd like to take out of town guests there to experience an authentic fish fry, but the johns are a deal breaker.

Defiantly a hidden jewel, the whole neighborhood is. So far untouched by redevelopment.

Pass through the bar to a relatively large dining area. Booth seating.
Food: HUGE portion of beer battered fish, coleslaw, and fries. Most people will have enough for a full two meals if you bring home leftovers or share the dish between two people. Take out or eat in. Call ahead during Lent.

Friday fish fry, this place is pretty outstanding. Be prepared to have a beer at the bar while you wait because they really pack them in. Now I know why, you get a nice helping of fish the beer batter is awesome nice and crispy. You also get all the sides mac salad, potato salad, coleslaw, and french fries. Trust me when I tell you nothing about this meal is bland. Extremely tasty and well worth the wait.
On a side note cash only.

Thank Shawn R

Parking lot was full when we arrived, so we parked across the street (maybe a school?). My husband used to be a regular at this place and had fond memories so we returned in hopes of enjoying a meal on a weekend afternoon. Some things had changed. The restaurant still had a great neighborhood feel with good customer service, but the fried items were overdone (fries, onion rings, and pizza logs were left in the fryer a bit too long) and the reason for our return, a Greek style chicken pita was a disappointment. My hubby suspected they changed their pitas so the experience was not the same and he was quite disappointed - he didn't use the Greek dressing because he did not like the flavor. My burger was prepared perfectly with fresh tomato and lettuce on top. We would not return for the food. Bar atmosphere was comfortable with feeling of everyone knows one another... saw a few families and even a grandfather teaching his grandson how to play pool.
