Owner description: Part of the 10-mile Ocean Drive and home to many well-known mansions.

This is the street where you will find the mansions(except the Breakers). Starting at the Tennis Hall of Fame you head out of the downtown area to see a street filled with mansions, many you cannot tour but several you can. It is a long beautiful street and if you keep going you will come to a curve that will take you to the ocean drive! My wife and I did this several times,we loved it!

Nice drive through the exclusive neighborhood. Recommend you combine this with the ocean drive since they almost meet at the southern point.

The south end of Bellevue Avenue brings you past most of the most prominent Newport mansions as well as the Tennis Hall of Fame and the beautifully located Salve Regina College. The narrower, north end above Memorial Avenue takes you past some interesting businesses and houses, and past Touro Park, location of the Old Stone Mill.

Restoration of the historic homes is lovely. Nice walking neighborhood, close to shopping, bars and restaurants.

We stayed at an Inn on Bellevue and it was easy to get everywhere. Just stand under the little round sign that says Trolley and they stop for you. The Mansions are at the end of Bellevue Ave and so easy to get to. Cost is $6 for a day, unlimited rides. Thames Street is 3 blocks dwon the hill from Bellevue so easy to walk.
