We had a wonderful stay. Would like to come back with family in future. The food in the restaurant was great. Would like rider more vegetarian selections in breakfast as well as dinner menu. We will recommend highly to all our friends.

From the onset of our stay it was exceptional service. Warm greetings from the valets to a champagne welcome toast, the Chandler staff truly made our stay a special one. The hotel itself has been restored to fit the guilded era elegance that one would hope for whilst visiting Newport, RI. The adirondack chairs overlooking the shore break make for the perfect backdrop to your evening glass of wine. What a lovely retreat, I would recommend it again and again.

From check in to check out, the staff make you feel like you are the only guests. Rooms are very neat and clean. Hot tub was very clean and very private. Food and Bar servers are true professionals. The view from the lawn with is spectacular and relaxing, best with a loved one.

One of the things about "historic" hotels is it's a fine line between historically classic and historic. We just spent a night in the Mediterranean Suite and found it to be a nice room, but the décor to us was frankly a wee bit worn and unappealing. The couch is sagging and near to being shabby, the bathroom is fairly large but dark, and there is no desk. I also do not understand why supposedly top notch hotels do not have high definition cable or satellite feed--it's like they buy tiny little flat screens and think they've done well! I also think a hotel that charges $500 a night can do better than crappy K-cup in room coffee with little boxes of sugar and plastic stir sticks--I mean come on, can you not put a sugar assortment in a small holder and actually have a spoon--and maybe some swizzle sticks so we can enjoy a cocktail in our room? The main room garbage can was so old and nasty it was all scratched inside and as there was no plastic liner and it was gross. The entry lobby is totally unimpressive, as is the bar area, although the restaurant area looks out over the bay, a good portion of it looks through a covered and enclosed dining area which frankly is not acceptable. I believe that hotels that are historic avoid updating when it is apparent it is necessary as they hide behind the "historic" descriptor and hope that their guests accept it. We didn't. We will not return.
