Owner description: Since opening in January 1999, the Battleship Missouri Memorial has attracted more than 8-million visitors from around the world with a fascinating tour experience showcasing the USS Missouri’s unique place in history. Located a mere ship’s length from the USS Arizona Memorial, the Mighty Mo completes a historical visitor experience that begins with the “day of infamy” and sinking of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and ends with Japan’s formal surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. The USS Missouri had an astounding career over five decades and three wars – World War II, the Korean War, and Desert Storm – after which it was decommissioned and donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Association operates the Battleship Missouri Memorial as a historic attraction and oversees her care and preservation with the support of visitors, memberships, grants, and donations.

The Mighty Mo is the ship where Japan signed the treaty of surrender after bombing Pearl Harbor and killing hundreds of US Navy personnel.

I have toured various ships, and the USS Missouri is a good one to visit if you like touring ships and/or are into war stuff. You really get a sense of how the crew would have lived (eating and sleeping quarters), so I applaud the way the everyday life of a serviceman comes to life. There are organized tours if you want them, and they don't cost extra. The cost of admission was combined with the USS Arizona tour. I think the combined cost was around $50. However, we opted for transportation from the Waikiki area using a Viator trip, and it ran about $90 per person.

The Battleship Missouri is where the official end of World War II was signed and the peace treaty took effect. You have a couple of options for visiting it: You can go during the day and pay about $30.00 US per person, or you can try and see if there is availability for the "Picnic on the Pier." This usually happens about once a month and is, in our opinion, a much better time. You can bring food out onto the pier the ship is moored to and you will still get to go on board the battleship. You will not get an official tour, but the cost is much less and is generally still impressive. We went on the 4th of July with a friend and had a very patriotic evening with fireworks at the end. Cost for the Picnic on the Pier is $10.00 per person.

What an excellent tour and should not be missed.

The Missouri is a small part of a large and excellent museum complex where you could spend a whole day.

Our Missouri tour includes the to deck visit as well as the “Heart of the Missouri” tour which took us below decks to the engine room and other areas as well as into a gun turret.

If you have the time it is well worth it, but does take a couple of hours.

We did the Arizona monument first then went to the Missouri. Very well run and plenty of people giving tours. Had a great time looking on board the ship and soaking up the history. Well worth a visit.
