I like tacky. I like big hotels with big foyers and the over the top welcome I receive upon arriving at a hotel.

I like the big swimming pools with the obligatory kids water slide.

And you know what? My kids love it too!

Make sure you stay on Mondays- that's when they have the Royal Luau at the Royal Hawaii- NOT to be missed.

Stay here, and join the parade who enjoy tackiness. The

There are those hotels that are a cut above the rest and this is one of them.

From the history of the place, the impeccable staff through to the cleanliness of the rooms (and hotel) and quality of the food.

We arrived here from over a week at another luxury hawaiian resort - and this place just blows away the competition

Room Tip: The Courtyard Rooms are fine. Save the extra on not being beachside (where you will spend all day anyway) and spend on other luxuries !

We stayed one night at the Royal Hawaiian before heading off to Kauai. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted with leis. At checkin we were upgraded to a jr suite. It was a nice surprise because they appeared to be sold out. The suite was spacious and beautiful. Loved the historic section of the hotel. Dinner at Azure was wonderful and romantic. The hotel is in a great location and since it's set back in the grove you will not be bothered with street nice. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Stay here often and love the location.

Annoying that people grab deck chairs for the whole day, rather than just when they use them. People go down at 7am to drop a magazine on the deck chairs locking them up all day.

They often run out of beach towels.

Wifi system is substandard. Always having to reconnect but at least is included in room charge now.

Other than that. Nice, expensive, but will be back.

Aloha RodHB,

Thank you for choosing to stay at The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort. It is always a joy to welcome back guests who adore the historic allure of the Pink Palace of the Pacific. We apologize for the inconvenience you faced in regards to our beach services. To provide an explanation regarding our beach towels, we did have a shortage problem last week, but have worked with our team to resolve this issue and ensure that this does not happen again. We are pleased to hear that you plan to return to our hotel again - we look forward to that day!

This is one of a half dozen times I've stayed here and I enjoy coming back. First thing is that I recognize many faces around the property over 10+ years. Next is that the old part of the hotel is magnificent in its design and layout. Not that it's super functional, but exquisite and feels of old time luxury. The food is good and the location is excellent if you like to do a little walking. The beach is right there as well as plenty of (chain) restaurants. I hadn't been here in a while, but two changes I wasn't happy with 1 - the general manager reception no longer exists and 2 - the check in is devoid of the towels and mango drink. I guess times change, even at the RHH. That's why this is more of a four and a half star review. One note I also need to mention, is that the hotel clientele closely mirrors that of Waikiki visitors. If you don't like Waikiki, then you are better off at the St Regis in Kauai.
