I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on the last day of my trip to Oahu and, because of its close location, Wailana Coffee House is(was) an excellent choice for breakfast with its large diner-like menu, quick service and good-tasting fare. We opted for a standard breakfast with a large fruit cup. Everything was top-notch.
The place had plenty of seating and loads of staff--many of whom appeared as though they had worked at the coffee shop for some time. Everyone was friendly.
So, I was very sad to hear that the shop had closed. It appears the long-time owners needed to invest big bucks for infrastructure repairs and decided someone else should handle the job. Perhaps a new tenant will open a restaurant. Perhaps not.
In any respect, if you didn't have a chance to patronize this coffee shop since it opened in 1970, you missed out!
