A coworker mentioned this place when I was planning my trip to Sri Lanka. I wasn't sure since it is a bit expensive, but it is well worth the cost. I stayed 2 nights at Castlereagh, which is a little hard to get to by car but has amazing views. The room and staff were perfect. Everything was taken care of, leaving you to just relax. Food was excellent and each night there was a fire to read next to and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. I hope to come back for another relaxing break.

Our 3 nights at Tientsin Bungalow at Tea Trails were the perfect start to a dream holiday in Sri Lanka. We stayed in the Bretherton Suite and our friends were in the Moir Suite which probably had the better balcony but we got the lovely morning sun to awaken us along with bed tea.The staff, headed by the very charming Sanath looked after us superbly and catered to our every whim. The wine flowed and the food was abundant and delicious. In fact for 2 of the 3 nights we virtually had the place to ourselves apart from an elusive honeymoon couple. On the third night we felt like we were welcoming the new arrivals to our own home! We enjoyed morning walks through the tea gardens and evening swims which all helped to work off some of the fabulous food and wine. The tea experience with Andrew Taylor was very entertaining. Afterwards we had lunch at Norwood Bungalow which had magnificent views. It was great to see another of the bungalows which are clearly all very different. In all a perfect holiday experience....what more can I say?

I have little to add to the already glowing reports on this extraordinary facility. We delighted in this glimpse of old Ceylon at the Castlereagh Bungalow in the Baker Room, nicely positioned on the corner and enjoying a secluded garden on two sides. The Golden Valley of Tea was truly that and the scenery breath taking. Service from our own Butler, Manager and Chef was impeccable and the accommodations luxurious in Raj or Colonial Style.
The Tea Trails are a destination in their own right and there is plenty to do there. Temptations to take a short stay at the TeaTrails and do side trips should be avoided as roads are narrow and in a poor state. Covering distances in a timely way is not on. If you wish to travel into the area by train it is advisable to use the Hatton railway station as that is the closest to Tea Trails. While the scenery was great the new Chinese Blue Train disappointed as it was extremely noisy and clanked hard over the tracks. The road journey is fine.
We would return to Tea Trails in a heartbeat...

We were lucky enough to stay at Norwood which was just beautiful in every aspect. The scenery was like you see on brochures only better, the rooms were very clean, comfortable and the food was delicious, more than we could eat. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were very professional and the chef was excellent. Walking through the tea planation was a must get get rid of a few kilos before the next meal. The tour of the tea factory was very informative and the guide was excellent. A must visit while in Sri Lanka as you will have a different outlook on tea and what goes into making that beautiful brew. Thanks guys for a great experience but now I am on a diet.

We stayed at Norwood for 2 nights and it was Absolutely amazing. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were very welcoming and warm throughout the whole stay. The food was faultless and the chef asked you when you wanted breakfast lunch & dinner meaning there were no set times so you didn't have to rush your daily activities.
We were shown around our room and the grounds which are simply stunning.
What really topped things off was the day we climbed Adam's Peak...We decided after a shower to visit 2 of the other bungalows and on arrival at castlereigh they knew that we had climbed the mountain! Such a nice touch that the staff had made the effort to inform the other bungalow.
High tea was lovely although alot of carbs before dinner was hard to digest...litterally. All inclusive. Deffo worth the money and we would love to rent a whole bungalow out for a loinger stay with friends/family.
