Rooms are clean with amazing views. We didn’t have hot water and they immediately came to fix it but since they could not find the problem we were moved to another room with plenty of hot water. Do not bother to go out for dinner in town... stay and have dinner at Gap Panorama!! Delicious food – just bring your own alcoholic drinks since they do not serve wine or beer.
Staff and owner are very friendly and we had a wonderful stay. Thank you!

The room here was quite standard, the bed was comfy, shower was good and breakfast was good. But the view is why people come here. I thought that it was pretty pricey fir what you got. But stunning views out over the local area. The staff were a little absent; showed us to our room and that was it - no chat or information. We weren't told about dinner/food on offer so walked into town (10mins) for dinner.

Room Tip: Get a newer room.

We had just 1 night here but I wish we'd booked for 2 as I'd have loved to have done some exploring of the area. On arrival we were welcomed by a couple of staff who were very pleasant and showed us to our room - they explained that we'd see sunrise from our bed if we opened the curtains and told us what time breakfast and dinner would be. The room was massive with mosquito nets over the top - needed too as there were lots of bugs. The bathroom was very basic and if I'm honest could have done with a good deep clean, but it was fine for purpose and a bit of dust doesn't scare me.

The dinner was lovely, well cooked and lots of choice, very tasty without being too spicy. After dinner we sat outside with our guide Upul (amazing guide and lovely man - happy to recommend if you pk me) with a bottle of Arrack and some coke, and enjoyed the wonderful environment and the sounds of the jungle - so different to being at home.

At breakfast, as it was my 50th the staff had put flowers on the table and they all came up to me to wish me a happy birthday, a nice touch when so far from home. Breakfast consisted of lovely rotti's with preserves, eggs on toast, amazing fresh fruit juice and of course the wonderful tea - it was more than enough for our needs, and when we managed to finish the rotti's (feeling stuffed) they then brought us another plate full!

Yes, this place is very isolated, yes it could do with a bit more tlc, but I liked it and if you can ignore a bit of dust and just relish in your surroundings, enjoy the peace and quiet that is only interrupted by the cries of the insects and frogs, enjoy the amazing views and relax. I would definitely go back to this lovely place anytime. Just remember, if you want and expect 5 star service, book into a Hilton, but if you want to see the real Sri Lanka and get real home cooked food, this could be the place for you.

Room Tip: definitely get a room facing the sunrise - awesome view!

We stayed in January 2015 and after staying in a number of guest houses around Sri Lanka this ranked as one of the least favourite. The view was spectacular and the rooms were a good size but they need a bit of a refurbishment. While in other guest houses we got a nice welcome, there was nothing like that here and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge so it was all a bit loose. Some of the staff in the restaurant were nice and the food was ok. I just thought it needed a bit more management presence and organisation.

Room Tip: get one of the newer rooms

The view from the hotel is absolutely stunning and you never get tired of looking at it but the hotel is not great. It really is a bit tired and needs a refurbishment.

The rooms are large but that’s about as far as I’d go. The beds were horrendously hard and that’s coming from someone who likes a firm bed. Lying on my side made my hipbone ache as the mattress is so thin and the base is just a plank of wood. I was a bit revolted that the sheet didn’t fully cover the mattress either and my feet were on the bare mattress – not hygienic at all! Not sure why you would have sheets too small for the bed and we didn’t experience this in any other hotel in Sri Lanka.

The shower was adequate but the whole bathroom floor does get a good soaking every time.

The sun coming up in the morning will wake you up as the curtains are very thin so be prepared to be awake at dawn!

Breakfast was good and filling. We only ate an evening meal there once, although it was included in the price. They don’t have alcohol but will go and get it if you pre-order it for the meal. We prefer to go out into the town where we are staying to eat and also to try and get something different to rice and curry!

The hotel is a distance from the town but very walkable, although the hill is steep. We walked into the town and then got a tuk tuk back (200 to 250 rupees) and found that worked for us.
