Near the road. I wouldn't shower there.
Is enough to look at pictures from Google. When we were there you couldn't climb. Don't know if you ever could.

Ravanna Ella Falls (aka Rawana Falls) is a great little place that we visited after leaving 98 Acres at Ella. The falls is located approximately 5-6 kilometres from Ella's local railway station. Our fantastic guide Palitha found parking just ahead from the bridge on the side of the road, only a few hundred metres away, but you could find it difficult if there are loads of others doing the same as space/parking is limited.

The waterfall is easily seen from the road side (at the bridge), but be vigilant when crossing the road, as the bridge is located on a bend (on a mountain highway)...the road is busy. Of course, water volume is dependent on the time/season when visited. We saw it at the end of July and the water flow was minimal, but still enough to be able to swim at the pool - only a short but slippery (at times) trek from the road, to the right of the bridge and "loosely" follow the track (and locals). Maybe during the monsoon season and after a rain storm, the pool could be dangerous (as well as the trek)....or impossible to reach/swim???

Apart from Ravana Ella Falls, the surrounding views are spectacular and there is no entry fee. I swam in the natural pool and although not very big, nor deep, it was sufficient for a dip and to briefly socialize with the local young adults also swimming in the pool. It also must've been an invite for the other "Western" tourists to join in, as there were only locals swimming initially.

Overall, and as it seems to be inbetween major tourist destinations, it is definitely worthwhile stopping at least for a quick visit, or for the more adventurous a swim in the natural pool and sit underneath the cascading waters of the falls.

It's worth a quick stop for taking pictures. There is not really to do much there except for taking a bath. There are locals selling boiled corns which is worth a try.

We passed by Ravana falls on the way to Udawalawa. We spent about 10 minutes to take a photo and that's about it. The fall itself is very high and impressive but there was lots of remnants of toothpaste and body wash to the sides which made the water a bit on the foamy side so not very enticing to get into the water. Overall worth a stop on the way out of town!
