We've just got back from a wonderful family trip to Portugal spent at Jardins do Tejo in Alcochete and I must say you've got to be there to really appreciate the place. It did exceed our expectations in every way. Barbara and João (the owners) know a thing or two about how it's done in terms of being hosts so a big thank you to them once again. They are tireless, thoughtful, attentive, kind and generous and that's just some of the attributes denoting them. Also, the wine and cheese as a welcome gift was amazing. Well done!! Nuno waited for us patiently to hand over the keys and was there on time to inspect the property on departure. On meeting him you immediately notice his infectuous smile and on that note I should extend my gratitude to the neighbours Rita and Pedro and their son Diego. What an outstanding family and genuine people. I'd definitely be returning there in the foreseeable future and in the meantime I'd just say you've got to see it to believe it... Top Marks all round.
We stayed here for 2 weeks in July 2015. The villa was immaculate, was huge and suited our needs perfectly. We travelled as a family of 6, a couple with 2 children (aged 12 & 14) and the grandparents came along too. This property was more than big enough for us all, with a balcony off each double bedroom, a large sun terrace/balcony off the attic area and a rear sun terrace & private garden too. The facilities were excellent, the villa has everything you could need, and more! The kitchen was very well equipped, lots of towels are provided, there were even toiletries in the bathrooms which we were not expecting (a nice surprise). There is a large garage with bikes to use and a washing machine & tumble dryer too (washing detergent etc all provided). The villa is in a lovely gated complex and the areas around the pool, park and gardens were spotlessly clean, tended every day by a gardener/handyman. We all enjoyed the pool and sporting areas. The village of Samouco is very quiet but it came alive for 5 days as the annual festival took place 10-14 July. We were very lucky to experience excellent daily & nightly entertainment, fun fairs, delicious food & drinks stalls and met lovely people (not many could speak any English but we got along just fine using our phrase book). The village has everything you need, food shops (including a wonderful bakers & a BBQ take-away with the most delicious chicken, steaks & ribs I have ever tasted), restaurants, bars etc and there is a large Continente supermarket a few miles walk or cycle towards Montijo, or you can catch a bus. The bus connections are excellent & frequent, we visited Lisbon, Montijo and Alcochete several times. We would definitely return to this villa, the owners Joao & Barbra & Barbra's brother Nuno were so helpful before & during our holiday, nothing was too much trouble. A taxi was arranged to collect us from the airport and return us at the end of our holiday. Nuno was there to meet us on arrival and departure and when we had some issues with the Wifi he came and sorted it very quickly. Our ages ranged from 12 to 78 and everyone had a great time. If you want a relaxing holiday in a fabulous villa, this is the place to come. We were fortunate to have 14 days of glorious weather but the villa is fully equipped for the winter months too. We did not hire a car and travelled everywhere by walking or public transport but would hire a car next time for convenience. I could write so much more.............thank you for a wonderful holiday!
