we've paddled passed the boat inn a few times now and wondered what it like so this weekend 8 of us and 2 dogs went. And despite feeling a little ignored when we first walked in we all enjoyed it. Because of the dogs we sat outside, the weather was nice so we didn't mind. The food was very nice, good portion and girls who served us were great. I think we would definitely go back

My wife and I were driving through Whitney-on-Wye earlier this week. It was a bit late for lunch but we took a chance on the Boat Inn restaurant because there were quite a few cars in the car park. The restaurant itself is rather plain old fashioned pub with limited seating in the lounge bar. There is a chalkboard menu and a regular menu. You serve yourself in getting the menu, orderings drinks and food, and setting your table with napkins and place settings. The view is reasonably pretty with large windows overlooking the river and valley. My wife had the salmon salad and I had broccoli cheese soup. Service was very prompt. Both meals were very good and we enjoyed our lunch. It is unlikely we will pass through Whitney-on-Wye again but we will stop here again if the timing is right.

On the way home from Hereford to Pembrokeshire we stopped for food never again will I step foot in this grubby pub. Three dogs running around with people eating, we had a meal and on the way home two of our party were sick after the eating the curry. As for the attitude of the staff my 5 year old daughter has better manners than the lady waitressing who smelt like an ashtray

My last review was in 2014, and again this pub amazes me at its constantly high quality of food.I must say I love the fish and chips here, so much I never venture to much else on the menu. The staff are always very polite and nothing appears to be too much trouble! Large car park at the front of the building which at times has the local farmers machinery outside when they pop in for a pint.
If your passing near its well worth a visit and see its views over the River Wye.

A busy, bustling pub by the river with an extensive menu, lots of homemade dishes, friendly service and great location.
