“Wonderful and Tart”

The Vinegar Works at Valentine Farm

Owner description: “Everything in the bottle is grown on our farm”We harvest grapes from our 2 acre vineyard, make wine, then transform that wine into a wonderful selection of wine vinegars. Use them in salads, when cooking meats, soups, sauces and literally hundreds of other ways around your kitchen. The perfect wine country gift for any cook on your gift list! A “new” idea for a hostess gift—wine vinegar instead of wine! We love food, and think this will shine through in our products. Our 10 acre farm is located in Summerland. B.C. in the shadow of the Trans Canada Trail, the Kettle Valley Railroad steam train, and Giant's Head mountain. It is a spectacular location. Our vinegar "tasting room" is open 6 days a week from mid-June through mid-October. Stay awhile! We have a beautiful Guest House located with a view of our vineyard and pasture.

Who knew that vinegar is so interesting? The owner told us how they make theirs and how other vinegars are made, which we just never thought about. Theirs is wine vinegar, and it's delicious and good for you too! Try it, you'll like it. It's a very welcoming little shop.

We visited the Valentine Farm in early June and had a wonderful time. I learned quite a bit about vinegars, verjus and what else you can do with an organic farm in wine country. I bought several of the beautifully bottled vinegars and can hardly wait to come back in the fall. Take the time to visit The Vinegar Works!

Before we went back home, we had a chance to see the vineyard for vinegar. It was interesting and the owner has a lot of knowledge on her wine vinegars. There were so much flavours of vinegar that we were able to taste from red wine to fruitful tastes of vinegar. The prices of the bottles are not regularly affordable compared to the brands of vinegar we can buy in supermarkets. The flavours we bought are red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, and 2 bottles raspberries vinegar. It was a day for vinegar shopping... Indeed a CH3-COOH time! :)

We enjoyed this visit and the walk from Saxon, the nearby winery. We bought several of the vinegars for ourselves and for gifts .

We were in Summerland on a tour of local wineries with my family from California when we decided to visit Vinegar Works. Tasting vinegar is not what one has in mind when focused on wine tasting, quite the opposite actually. We walked through the vineyard from Saxon and tasted the entire flight. The tarragon vinegar was a pleasant surprise as was the Rosso Balsamic. We purchased a bottle the entire collection and we are looking forward to using them over the holidays to entertain.
