My wife and I took another trip to Hotel La Palapa this past week. We have been there a few times now in September. The hotel is great with a very nice beach. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that there is not a coffee maker in the room. We had to actually get up and go to the restaurant for coffee. The hotel is well worth it, even without in room coffee. We would recommend this hotel.

We have stayed a few days in La Palapa and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The location is great: best beach spot we have seen so far whilst exploring the island (others at la playa for instance have a road in between the hotel and beach), within walking distance of the ferry, great location for heading into town, quiet, good beach bar with great cocktails and snacks (till 8pm). Clean beach (no seaweed). Clean beach towels every day. Comfy beach chairs and hammocks. Great views & great atmosphere. Location is definitely a reason to stay here!

The room itself is comfortable size wise, decent bed (king). Showers are warm-ish. Decoration could be improved (feels a little dark and old). However, the rooms are clean. Lovely staff. Even though, we felt rooms could be improved decoration wise we would definitely come back & highly recommend the hotel.

Recommendation: we rented bicycles and went up to punto mosquito, great few hours out. Great scenery and we saw loads of flamingos. So awesome. You can leave your flipflops at your bikes (or just chain them to your bikes if you are worried), otherwise you’ll be carrying them during your wade through the shallow water. Have fun!

Some advice for the island:
- bring enough cash as ATMs don’t work (reliably)
- payment for this hotel is made upon arrival & payment is cash gets you 5% discount (US or pesos)

We had a very happy stay at hotel la palapa. The hotel was clean and the location perfect. The hotel is right on the beach and our room was on the ground floor which gave us a great view and sound of the ocean. The beach in front of the hotel is narrow but there are many comfy loungers.

There is a beach bar/restaurant that serves great cocktails, breakfasts and snacks throughout the day (it closes at 8, which gives you a good opportunity to walk into town for dinner. We went to Crustacio Cascarudo (delicious fresh fish and very local) one night and Roots Pizza (lobster pizza and live band). Both are very much worth visiting.

The reception was very helpful in every way and always keen to help with restaurant suggestions and day activities. The Three Island Tour was recommended to us by reception, which was very much worth doing.

Holbox was a unique experience and very authentic. It is untouched and tranquil but also has a vibey town with great restaurants. It is very easy to navigate and feels safe. Refreshingly affordable too.

We sure do have a very good location since we are just 2 blocks away from the center and have the beach right in front of us, very close that you can hear the waves. Also, our staff has great recommendations and we want all our guests to feel free and go to the Front Office to ask anything they want or need.

We loved the staff and the atmosphere of the hotel. Well placed in the town and quiet at night because bar and kitchen shut at 8pm. Run by a lovely group of people. Rooms cleaned well and timely. Great bar and excellent beach food. Good people watching.
Holbox was extremely hot and the air conditioner worked well. The staff make this place. I would say lots of atmosphere. Well priced and placed. We had a great time. Not many people spend two weeks most spend less I think and we were happy for the whole trip.

This hotel is about as close to the beach as one can get. The property is well maintained and the staff is quite friendly. The beach is very nice and the water quite shallow which is the case everywhere in Holbox that we visited. Lounge chairs are available both in the sun and in the shade. We stayed in a top-floor room which was very nice. The air conditioning worked well and we had no issues with insects whatsoever. The property also has a restaurant/bar which opens for breakfast at 7:00 a.m. (pretty-much the earliest anything opens in Holbox) and closes around 7:00 p.m. Very good food and the location cannot be beat for morning coffee or evening sunset cocktails. We will definitely be back.
