Wonderful family sunday lunch at The Duke of Cumberland. Great service and food beautifully cooked and presented. Yorkshire pudding a particular favourite, but roast potatoes and beef also terrific. Highly recommended - the best in the area. Thanks to all for making this a memorable day.

I love The Duke of Cumberland and only visit on special occasions to keep it a real treat.

We visited mid-week for my 30th birthday and as usual the food was glorious and totally delicious. I always have the same thing (confit of pork belly) and am never disappointed.

The 4/5 star rating is because the service sadly wasn't as attentive as it has been in the past. It was OK, but not as good as it used to be and was simply the minimum needed really, which is a shame. It seems several others are in agreement, looking at other reviews. Not worth leaving a tip for, unfortunately.

Three of us ate here for lunch last week. The lunchtime menu has remained broadly unchanged for the last few years and feels very tired. The sausages were not as tasty as usual, the chips with the fish and chips were overcooked and soggy and the risotto not up to its usual standard. Even though we were the only occupants of the large back dining room, the service was slow and inattentive.
We look forward to a revised lunchtime menu in the New Year to make our journey worthwhile.

At the weekend the place tends to be very busy with the chelsea crowd in the countryside hunting. The service is young competent and friendly.the food is of very high quality yet remains very classic.this place is very famous locally.the wines here are also great . very good famous supply. Many countries are featured and you find very good value in Spain and France .

This is a really lovely place to chill out and relax after a walk on the South Downs. The staff are helpful and the atmosphere deliberately informal, so it may not appeal to everyone. But its very popular, so it may be advisable to phone ahead. Also, the road leading up to the pub seems to get a little crowded at times. Having said this, the beers are good and the food is more than decent and the portions are generous. Certainly, early on a Friday lunchtime, it was full and late comers were having to wait for tables.
