After a few days in the city, we came to the Al Maha for a couple days in the desert. We have stayed around the world in luxury hotels and resorts but there was something very special about Al Maha. The resort is beautiful of course, but it was the staff that took the whole experience up a notch.

Everyone, from the dining staff and housekeeping team to the pool engineers and reception ladies was genuinely kind and warm. We didn't know the time of our departing flight and when our lovely reception lady (our apologies for not remembering her name!) was arranging transportation, she checked our luggage airport tags and found out the departure details using our booking number. Wow!

Delroiz and his housekeeping team provided amazing and personalised service and would come back multiple times based on our ever changing schedule. Gregg from South Africa was our field guild and was fantastic with so much knowledge - he was our best friend during our stay! He managed to educate us on so much while still making it interesting and fun.

Overall we 100% recommend this resort - our only regret is that we did not stay long enough!

Hats off to the team at Al Maha - you really make the difference each and every day!

Beautiful resort. Villas were amazing, spacious , exception bed and linen with individual pool and exceptional views. Camel ride at sunset was great. Massive downside for us was we couldn’t get into the spa. The day we arrival it was closed for a function and booked out the next day. So disappointed we went to a spa resort and couldn’t even get in. We were so looking forward to a spa treatment of any kind.

We didnt stay on the property as our visit was part of a day trip to the Conservation reserve. But no matter, its still worth the visit. Our Tour agent Platinum Heritage Luxury Tours and Safaris was excellent. The moment we entered the reserve we were greeted with Ornyxs. And this continued throughout our tour of the conversation reserve. Then in the distance, appears the Al Maha Resort. The resort is an oasis of peace and tranquility. The buffet breakfast is exceptional. Try the Filet Mignon. You wont regret. Oh, the wildlife do come close to you. Perfect for a picture. A return trip is definately in the works..

We visited Al Maha for 3 days and what is surprising is that during our stay we discussed a few times about how nice the staff is. We are not strangers to luxurious destinations but here I for one felt that the staff is GENUINELY polite, empathic and attentive, a sort of attitude that you don’t get with any training in the world. I was thinking their HR person must be congratulated and so on.
After posting a 5 star review on Facebook right after our return, we started reading the negative ones both on FB and TA and we are shocked about the type of complaints they get: people seem to be disappointed with
A) service - it is hard to believe, or maybe things have really changed, but service was seamless though-out, they even supplied us with sherry the entire stay, even in the desert dining (complimentary all the way). Birthday cake, hand written letter - even all the staff wished me well on my day. The Ranger went out of his way to lessen my embarrassment about archery skills, and took me to see the horse stables (out of his way). The bar and restaurant staff very attentive and fast... really hard to believe that someone is unsatisfied.
B) bugs, wildlife and sand - if the hotel management can’t say it like this, I will: stay home or in a bubble glass, don’t come to a desert conservation resort. It is in the middle of the desert and you are privileged to see the wildlife in all its forms. And you will get sand in your shoes.
C) outdated decor - our suite was spacious, very clean, comfortable, traditionally decorated and we also had one wasp inside but it was sent out by the guy that showed us around. Pfff... there was also a bug in the pool one day... oh my God! But the we saw it in the drain. Luckily, otherwise we would have rated Al Maha 1 star :))
Although it was brought to our attention that wildlife may show up during our dune dining - it didn’t - and I was relieved but also a tad disappointed. I really don’t understand how people can get upset that they are in the middle of the wilderness and they see vipers and they decide to rant on the hotel management. It is so easy to leave a negative review and literally decimate the effort of so many people that strive to do it good.
We were 100% satisfied and I am happy many other people have felt as good as we did.
Thank you Al Maha! Keep up the good work!

Given the required passage through a guarded gate into the conservation area, it's not surprising that you are greeted by name upon arrival. But, it does not end - the personal service is excellent.

As a resort that includes all meals (except alcohol), morning and afternoon activities (falconry demonstration, camel trekking, nature walks, etc.), an all-suite setup, and a spectacular separation from the real world, this a recluse's dream. We chose Al Maha to cope with jet lag before tackling Dubai. It was a perfect tonic for stress with an excellent spa, spectacular views, and a quiet that soothes the soul.

Our guide (Jason) was personable and extremely knowledgeable (characteristic of the entire staff), Leo provided an excellent massages on two days (the whole spa staff seemed committed to making every treatment perfect), and the restaurant's chef orchestrated three meals a day that focused on variety and quality.

We didn't want to leave -- but, it was the beginning of a 25-day trip and onward we marched. We'll return -- perfect stopover if flying Emirates anywhere.
