Very nice place. Big rooms and fine service. Good pools and nice beach. But if its big waves its not so good to swim because of some rocks. But not a long walk for å beach without rocks. Good restaurants nearby, and at the beach.

We (couple of adults) booked this hotel based on good evaluations in TripAdvisor. We realized that this is three star hotel with very positive comments that could produce good value for the money. It turned out to be so as well. You must understand that this is average beach hotel with nothing special in it. Its best features are location and service. If you love to spend time in hotel room, for example having romantic time etc, then this is not your hotel. But if you plan to spend time swimming and sunbathing, then this can be proper choice. With better air conditioning and wifi this would be four star place for me.

Staff was always friendly and helpful. Room was quite clean, but had some issues that will cause problems if you want to stay several nights during high season. First of all, air conditioning. Air conditioning was functional only when you stay in your room, which is ok, if it's powerful enough to cool down the room when activated. In this case it always took about half an hour before room temperature was tolerable. Of course, temperature outside was about +35 degrees Celsius, so it is challenging to lower the room temperature without proper insulation. Air conditioning unit was positioned above bed and for that reason you had to decide whether you want to catch cold or sweat during night. Refrigerator in the room was big enough and dinner table with four chairs made it possible to eat some snacks and breakfast also in-room. WiFi was free but connection was always unstable and very low-speed. Surprisingly there were no ants or mosquitoes in our room.

Pools were great but all sunbeds were reserved with towels early in the morning. Annoying as always. Breakfast was fine, but food quality in hotel restaurant otherwise was average at best.

Hotel is located next to beach. There are some huge flat rocks underwater and when it's really windy and waves are big, you'll get thrown against those underwater rocks. So beach next to hotel is not suitable for small kids. Beach seems to be better closer to harbor.

Location is great with only few minutes walk to restaurants and shops of Platanias. You can start your night by walking on the beach from hotel Menia Beach towards Platanias center and watch amazing sunset. Nearest shop (Katarina Market?) next to hotel is small and a bit expensive, but bigger supermarket (Inka) can be found within 10 min walk. Taxi to Chania cost about 15-20 €. Bus transfer from/to airport took 30 minutes.

Room Tip: Room with sea view is the best. Rooms with pool view are close to pool and noisy.

Perfectly located by the sea, and a bit off the main street through Platanias. No traffic or party noise!

Very nice for kids with 3 separate pools and a sandy/rocky beach.
Free sun beds on the beach for hotel guests.

Decent restaurant/bar at the hotel, but more expensive than others nearby and rather slow service.

Good supermarket next door that offer most things you'll need.

Rooms are big and clean. Cleaning staff very nice and flexible. Fresh sheets and towels more often than we expected.

Quick response and good service when plumbing overflowed in one bath.

-
Wifi of typical Greek standard, almost none existing if you aren't close to the antennas.

A/C unit did not work at all in one of our rooms...

Hotel game room looked much better on pictures than it turned out to be (not much worked...)

Don't expect to keep the room (for a few extra hours) for late departures during high season, even though the hotel offers this service.
(And you'll have to wait until 9 am the same day for an answer to keep it or not)

We had to use the laundry service offered, and it was an expensive experience, plus it took them 24 hours.

Complaints to reseption staff are normally answered with a shrug and a sorry, don't expect wonders.

Outside one of our rooms (509) the staff have their smoking/leisure/meeting area. Woke up many mornings to intense tobacco smell and chatting locals.

Nice hotel. Simpel, very clean, no luxury - but here is all you need. We stayed 4 pers at a 2 bedroom appartment with 2 baths - including breakfast for the price of 850 DKK pr Night in May. Two balconies and a partly seawiew. Good value for money. Possible to rent towels. This was our 3 time on Menia. Breakfast is okay, not spectacular. The restaurant has been renovated since our last visit 2015 - unfortunately not as cosy as before. No greek charme, more Like a clean Scandinavian cafeteria - but nice staff.
