We were given an apartment 'in a quiet part' but were not informed of the cockerel crowing from before 5am every morning until sunset. We asked to be moved but realised the cockerel could be heard over the whole area.
The buffet meal area was cramped. The breakfast dishes were poor quality and we never saw any proper bacon or sausage during our stay. The fried eggs were hard. It was difficult to get a coffee cup and we had to wait until some were brought in. This also happened with food and cutlery. Items were not replaced quickly.
We opted for half board which meant the dinner buffet. The hot dishes were disgusting and sometimes we did not know what the food was as it was not labelled. Most dishes were covered in brown gravy, even vegetables and leftovers from the day before were rehashed. Every day the same cold pasta and mince was there. Most times we just ate salads with chips, when they were available. The worst dish we tried was a kind of pork chop covered in a disgusting sweet brown sauce. I also tried rice which was waterlogged and a sweet and sour sauce which was tasteless. Needless to say this food was left and went to waste. Considering this hotel states it has an award for it's 'Cretan cuisine', we didn't see any of that while we were there. Our advice is to eat out there are some good restaurants up the road serving proper food. The chef needs sacking, he lets the hotel down. This is the worse buffet food we have every encountered on our travels.
The swimming pool was a lot smaller than the publicity suggests and the water smelt strongly of chlorine and which we avoided for most of our stay.
The beach is very stony and it is hard to get in and out of the sea.
I had words with a waiter because he would not save my wine till the following night, after that I decided not to buy any more drink.
The waiting staff are indifferent and can be rude.
We were disappointed with our stay and will not be returning.

Room Tip: As far away from the cockerel as possible.

Therefore ιt is meaningless to answer your libel

We, a couple 60+, stayed from September 19th for ten days at Indigo Mare and enjoyed every moment of it. Our room was spacious and the beds were comfortable, changes of towels and bed linnen were regularly. The cleaning staff was very efficient, and our room was kept spick and span all the time.
We booked halfboard and the breakfast was good and enough to choose from, even when we arrived late. We especially loved the Greek yogurt, which was delicious.
Dinner was very good, we love Greek cuisine!
And a great thank you to all the staff: Reception (Christina and colleagues), house cleaning, the service in the restaurant area was professional and personal, thank you for making our stay so wonderful.
A special thank to Mixalis, who contributed to our pleasant stay with his good humour and smile.

Not enough sunbeds by the pool was not totally the hotel‘s fault. To many guests „reserved“ the sunbeds in the morning by putting their towels on them, than leave the vicinity for many hours, when other people could have used the sunbeds. However, we were lucky, we could find sundbeds mostly in the afternoon.

We look forward to book our next stay at Indigo Mare, planned for next spring!

I passed by and stopped for a drink at Indigo bar -cafe -restaurant and i can tell you that i really enjoyed my time there . Nice music , friendly service and beautiful opened area that provides you the facility of being close to the pool and the beach .
Recommended !!!

Room Tip: I suppose a room with the view to the sea ... why not? it's quiet in general the area around .

Just back from 10 days at Indigo Mare. Fab holiday . Great room with nice sea view. Reception staff really helpful and friendly, particularly Liane and Christina. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Rooms cleaned daily. Excellent base for exploring Western Crete. Will definitely be back next year.
