Visited Villa Carlotta with my mother for her birthday in August. The villa has many rooms to explore across different floors, with cultural and historical decor and artefacts. The English and Italian gardens are absolutely beautiful, set against stunning views of the lake.
Well worth a visit!
Two words of warning: it can be difficult to park by Villa Carlotta and there is a lot of walking to explore the gardens so be sure to wear comfortable footwear!

I have been to the Villa Carlotta numerous times and never tire of it. There always seems to be something different to see. When I went this year there was a new addition of an olive tree grove. My friends and I had taken a packed lunch with us and we sat way up on the side of the mountain in the olive grove eating our lunch. The view of Lake Como was spectacular. We must have sat there for about an hour. We were very lucky as the weather was unseasonably warm for October. Everything in the garden is well kept and there are lots of splashes of colour and interesting nooks and crannies. It makes a wonderful day out and if you have a spare day you could stay all day as there are lots of seats to rest on most with wonderful views so that you can sit and daydream. There is a coffee bar and you are also able to go into the villa although not all of it. I myself go because I love the gardens. You must visit if you are in the area. If you are staying somewhere on Lake Como you can get there by the lake ferry as there is a stop right across the road. Enjoy!!

We were on a private boat ride to visit Lake Como's villas and villages and we almost decided to pass by the Villa Carlotta. We didn't know what to expect, so we were absolutely thrilled and relieved that we stopped to tour this amazing property and villa. The gardens and fountains at the entrance are so beautiful and lush. We took a quick tour of the grounds, viewed the interior of the villa, and climbed to the top floor to see the views of Lake Como. If you have an opportunity to visit this villa, I would highly recommend stopping to see the gardens and the inside and spend at least one to two hours there.

The grounds and Villa were next to our hotel so a visit here was a must-do item on our list. The Villa is elegant and very impressive and we thought the way the design of the central arches resulted in being able to see through the building at Lake Como and through to the gardens behind was a great feature. The gardens are a delight and extensive incorporating two main walks of differing lengths depending on available time. There is a splendid cafe in the grounds with a nice outside seating area.TIP take your National Trust membership card with you to enjoy a decent discount on the admission fee.
