Owner description: Villa Carlotta welcomes you with its magnificent botanic garden and art masterpieces in over 70.000 square metres of gardens and museum. The beautiful villa was built at the end of XVII century by the Milanese marquis Giorgio Clerici in a natural basin between lake and mountains, facing the dolomite Grignas and the peninsula of Bellagio.

Such a stunning sight from your ferry when this villa comes into view - it has its own pier for the ferries. The gardens are very enjoyable and a gentle stroll can take up to an hour. There is a café for snacks at the north end. The villa is open but is not one of the most beautiful inside, housing mainly artwork and sculptures. Definitely worth a visit - our favourite 'Villa and Gardens Visit' on this trip to Como.

We visited in October which is certainly not the best time for the gardens but still worth the visit. The front facade was gorgeous and really made you envy the people who once had the privilege of living in a magnificent home with gorgeous access to the lake. The front gardens were truly a statement! Inside there were interesting sculptures and paintings. Taking a walk about the place through the gardens is relaxing and a good way to spend a vacation - thinking about the glory of God's creation!

I stayed at the Grand Tremezzo and as I was waiting for my room, they gave me a complimentary pass to visit. I am so glad, because since I was so short on time, I probably would have missed this and believe me, it should not be missed. Tremezzina ofers a small tourist train, the Trombetta express thet goes from Menaggio to Lenno stopping at all of the major sights and Villa Carlotta is one of these stops.

A beautiful villa & glorious gardens too. The villa is now a museum, and has many interesting items in the art collection.
Allow at least 3 hrs for your visit.
