You owe it to yourself to stop at this restaurant! The view is spectacular, the food is divine, local and seasonal, and the owners are incredibly friendly and hospitable. The tasting menu may seem a bit steep (40 euros) but it is worth every cent! It’s a ridiculous amount of good food, so if you think you might get too full eating the pasta course, take some home with you! They’ll even advise you on how best to heat it up We ran out of time in Tuscany, otherwise we would have taken their cooking course (runs from about 10 am to 3 pm). I would recommend you carve out the time to do this and to call in advance to book. It looked amazing, and everyone spoke English exceptionally well, which I imagine would be somewhat important in a cooking course. Even if they didn’t speak English well, this restaurant would be worth stopping at for the food (heck, even the view) alone!

The atmosphere sets the tone. Wonderful time at Locanda Demetra. From initial introduction --> picking veggies/flowers in garden --> preparing material --> cooking, not my strength, chef did the important parts, but it's fun to participate --> Excellent food and wine. Incredible lunch experience under Tuscan sun. Friendly staff including the cat Austin (Osden). Will visit again.

Where to start? Is the food better than the view? Can't really say, but do make sure you eat there when in Montalcino. Heaps of love and attention to detail goes into lovely looking and amazing tasting dishes with ingredients right from under your nose, in case you are sitting in the garden, which boasts more vegetables than flowers. The latter are of course the edible ones and will garnish your plate. Reservation needed!

We have friends in Montalcino that we visit every year, and they insisted on taking us to Locanda Demetra for dinner. How incredible it was!!!

For starters, the restaurant grows their own vegetables, spices, and edible flowers. As the seasons progress, guests are treated to the cyclical palates of Tuscan growing season.

The food was nothing short of magnificent. We tried a variety of samplers while catching up with friends and laughing the night away over wine, food, and stories. It was nothing short of a magical evening, and the cuisine and staff accentuated that.

Travelers tip: the restaurant is small, and the demand is high. You must book well in advance as dropping in will be unsuccessful.

The cooking class was an exceptional experience, it was one of the highlights of our trip! We were a class of four, so the group size was perfect. We learned (and ate) an incredible amount. Imma is an excellent teacher, passionate about organic fresh, local foods prepared straight from the garden. We made a delicious, healthy meal, participating fully in all aspects of preparation and cooking. The best part was making a variety of pastas from scratch. All the team Locanda Demetra are committed to the highest quality experience, building on simple local traditions with enthusiasm and creativity. The lunch was outstanding so we returned for dinner the following night. Highly recommended!
