Friendly, with an interesting tour of the caverns. The kids loved the cable car ride and the play areas. Avoid on bank holidays - parking is hideous.

We visited for the first time with our five year old daughter. It was Good Friday and expected both the attraction and Matlock Bath to be much busier.

We parked in the car park near the train station (£5.50 for all day) and took the short walk to the base station for the cable cars. We got on straight away. There is an opportunity to purchase an annual pass for about double the price but we opted not to.

The cable car journey was pleasant, with a break half way to take scenic photos. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We started off by going to the cafe for a hot drink as it was overcast and we needed warming up.

Next stop was the adventure playground, which we found was aimed at slightly older children as my 5 year old struggled to reach some of the playground equipment. We then went in search of a second playground and found this to be more age appropriate. There was also a heated tent with craft activities where children could make clay and play doh models. This was lovely and at no extra charge at all, excellent.

We then went into the Masson cavern your and although our daughter was nervous, she loved it. The tour guide was excellent, just the right mix of informative and fun. Be aware that this tour has a lot of steps, I think it was about 180 in total but well worth it.

There was an Easter competition with dinosaur eggs rather than Easter Eggs that you had to find around the site. Solve the anagram to win a prize.

We went for lunch in the cafe rather than the restaurant as we found this more to our budget. My wife and I had Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Paninis at £4 each which was pretty reasonable.

We then visited a couple of the exhibitions before calling it a day.

Visited last Sunday and had a fantastic time at the Heights of Abraham! the highlight was easily the adventure playground where my 2 youngsters played for hours! Looks like a company called eibe made the swings and slides! Would come here again.

We visited on a cold but sunny March Monday with snow covering the hill slopes and so there were not that many visitors. The cable car trip provided excellent views. There is quite a lot to do when you reach the top. We did the Great Masson Cavern tour with a very well informed and entertaining guide, visited the Long View, the Fossil Factory and the Masson Pavilion; all worth the time. We also went up the Victoria Prospect Tower to see the view over the area. Because of the cold and a bit slippery conditions we did not do the walks or visit the Tinkers Mine Shaft although we would have liked to. The Terrace Café also provided us with a good value lunch. Recommended.
