Description: Nestled into the Avon Valley, Award Winning restaurant The Oyster Shack – aka “Seafood Paradise” serves an array of mouth-watering catch of the day seafood and shellfish, depending on what’s been landed daily and what’s in season on the land. With eclectic, rustic decor its as cosy in the wintertime as it is virbrant and al fresco in the summer. A must visit year round. In true "shack" nature you can pop in for light nibbles and coffee with friends at lunchtime through to an extravagant Lobster lunch or whole catch of the day - always with incredibly friendly and welcoming service.

This was out first visit to the Oyster Shack and won't be our last. We chose the Easter Saturday and the restaurant was busy but the staff were so friendly and helpful. The choice of food on the menu is extensive and catch of the day is fresh and supply limited. Boards near the kitchen show how many fish are left. My Crab Soup and John Dory were excellent. Local lobster was popular. The kitchen is open and busy with the theatre of plate preparation a spectator event.
The Oyster Shack has a very distinctive beach feel with shabby chic decor and a garish colour scheme. The effect is totally unpretentious and the food and service speak for themselves. Difficult not to just relax and enjoy.

Arrived nearly too late at 2.50 but quickly seated at a table for four. Staff exceptionally and genuinely friendly and lots of them, any of them happy to help/explain. Anchovies and oysters followed by mussels and whole plaice, all delicious, generous portions. Would have liked a finger wipe after the mussels. Wine is served quirkily in a child’s seaside bucket. Selection of 4 localish cheeses, waitress went to check the name of my favourite and returned with it helpfully written on a piece of paper. It’s a very lively place, heaving with large parties of families and pets are welcome too there’s even a doggy menu! We were still made to feel very welcome as a couple. Would definitely return again, taking the tidal road if it’s open whihc would avoid the alternative somewhat tortuous road with just a few passing places.

As we are not local we only get to enjoy The Oyster Shack a few times each year but it is always good and this time was no exception. Relaxed atmosphere and great, local produce served at it’s best - often fairly simply. But that’s what works and makes it so good. Will be back next time we’re in the area.

We visit Devon at least twice a year for a holiday and an absolute must on our list of "to do"s is to visit the Oyster Shack. I am in my glory eating their wonderful, fresh and beautifully cooked seafood. We have never had a bad meal - a definite recommendation. First Class.
